Does anyone else think we need a subboard for the Dining Plan?

We'll look into this for you guys--.
Should add tho that diverting each and every DP thread to the sticky might be very time consuming, as the Mods are all volunteers and we're not on the boards 24/7. Plus the poster being diverted may not think much of it--.
And--would even a sub-board cure the problem?? Can imagine lots of posters continuing to post about DP even with that--
But as I said, we'll talk it over and see what's what!!

This same discussion occurred on the Resorts Board when it became overwhelmed with threads about codes. It was a learning process for everyone to realize the new sub-board was open; the mods were busy for awhile moving threads to the sub-board. Eventually though people learned it existed and now it is very rare to see a code thread on the main board.

JMO it really helped the RB to regain some sanity and focus on what the main board was all about. The Restaurant Board really needs this same sanity and focus again.

I think another problem with the sticky posts is that people don't want to wade through umpteen pages of questions and discussion to find a quick answer.

But thanks Uncleromulus and other mods for considering this. It must be a thankless task. :grouphug:

Thank you for considering it. :goodvibes

I really think a sub board as opposed to the sticky move would be the way to go. I agree, I never want to read all the way through a sticky. I read the first few posts and thats it.

WOW that would really help someone like me, I am rather budgeted for time on my computer and may I say my computer is a bit lazy no hurry on it for anything. So when I have been trying to get information aobut the restaurants or food my lazy computer is not the fastest on turning pages.

I have posted questions regarding food not the plan and some seem to get lost in the shuffle.

I posted my ?s about the dining plan, on the dining plan thread but it seems that most folks aren't doing that. It makes sense!

Good luck to the powers !

I ditto and second all the previous dittos and seconds. Though a moderator's task seems endless in many ways, in the long run, I would think making a sub-board would eventually lead to a more effective means of answering questions about DDP. :)

I'll third that! It is a drag when every other question is about the plan and I am looking for FOOD!

:magnify: I'm always looking for FOOD too!!!

and I agree there should be a different thread.

The matter is under "active" consideration even as I type--

The mods on resorts still have to move code threads daily. But for the most part having the sub board on codes has worked very well. There are experts that post on that board that help the others to understand.

It also works well when a code or new rate is announced. Instead of 20 posts clogging up the resorts board stating I got a new rate it is discussed in the codes thread.

Sounding more and more like a good idea--
Of course, there are all "kinds" of posts relating to the dining plan--some with questions, some with comments, and a # of pure dining "reviews" but which also discuss the use of CS credits, TS credits, etc etc. The problem might be--which posts to divert??
Just putting the cart before the horse, I guess.

I would suggest anything to do with the Dining plan be on the separate board.

On Resorts anything dealing with a code or rate is diverted to the codes board. Examples, I got a room for $300 is this a good rate, when do they release codes, Do I have to be a AAA member? , What is I want a package.

Another mod on resorts also came up with a sticky about where certain posts belong. That has helped quite a bit.

Of course getting folks to read yet another sticky before they even post--and if we put any restaurant review on the sub-board that even mentions the DP, it would mean our "regular" users would need to check out that board if they wanted to read the review--
But I'm willing to give it a try--if nothing else we can try it out and if it dosen't work out, nothing ventured, nothing gained!!

Coming late to the game but wanted to add my support, too. I didn't even write a review from our Oct trip or post pics from it because I knew they just weren't read that much anymore and it takes too long to write it just to have it lost within a few hours. I used to post often on here about the food but since I will never do the dining plan, I post less and less often. I'd love to return to talking about food! =0

I'm so glad the moderators are considering it Uncleromulus. Anding my two cents that reviews that just mention the savings from the plan probably should be on the main board not since I think so many of us love reading the reviews themselves.

It's kind of like the news from resorts that get lost on one of the sub boards at resorts. I think many people (like me usually) miss those updates because they end up on that subboard with happy dances etc.

I wasn't thinking necessarily of reviews because they benefit everyone even if the review mentions how much was saved on the DP. A subboard would be more for questions about the plan & "lively" discussions on using the plan.

I agree!

Another idea would be to make one board just for reviews.

There could be another board for DDP and DDE questions, getting CRT, hours restaurants are open, etc, which one to see Snow White, etc..
