Interestingly enough, here's an article I found on MSN today about Star Jones:
Fur Ever: Star and Al Say 'I Do'
Perhaps it was wishful schadenfreude on our part, but we figured that after months of Star "Bridezilla" Jones' shameless promotion of her corporate-sponsored wedding of the century to Al Reynolds, something would go wrong.
Alas, there was nary a runaway groom, a sagging cake, or a Payless shoe in sight at the star-crammed nuptials in New York on Saturday night.
There was, however, plenty of fur, which seemed the de rigueur accessory for the evening. Guests who donned pelts -- both real and real-looking -- included Kim Cattrall, Angela Bassett, Lorraine Bracco, and bridesmaid Natalie Cole. The bride, who has been snapped repeatedly in recent weeks wearing a fur wrap, reportedly wore a full-length white mink coat.
When we contacted People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals for a comment on the prevalence of hides at the ceremony, they were, not surprisingly, less than impressed.
"Knowing Star, and her mandates for every other detail of the wedding, she made fur 'mandatory,'" PETA spokesman Michael McGraw quips to MSN Entertainment, adding, "Star embodies the greed and self-absorption that seems to have temporarily taken hold in this country."
Hirsute guests or no, the publicity-craving couple was thrilled to pledge their eternal troth. "Every dream, wish and desire was fulfilled on that day and we can truly say that it was the best day of our lives," Mr. and Mrs. Al Scales Reynolds wrote on their wedding website (which named Continental Airlines as the ceremony's official airline). "God has blessed us with each other and we're so happy that our two lives have finally become one. Please keep us in your prayers."
Like most weddings, only much more so, it was all about the blushing and endlessly gushing bride, who wore a white strapless Reem Acra wedding dress with an understated 27-foot train (we'll sidestep the easy Amtrak sponsorship joke), which apparently required a half-dozen people to wrangle it.
"I was happy for her," Barbara Walters told the New York Post. "She had the biggest smile I've ever seen."
Guests willing to take part in the freebie-filled nuptial circus were rewarded with a reception at the Waldorf-Astoria, which featured lobster, filet mignon, and a three-tiered wedding cake, says the paper. Star reportedly enjoyed the traditional daddy-daughter dance to the strains of Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me," while the bride and groom grooved to "Fly Me to the Moon."
For those eager to get up close and personal with the wedding details, be sure to leaf through an upcoming issue of In Style magazine, which has exclusive rights to the knot-tying. For now, we'll faithfully tune into "The View," hoping against hope that we'll soon hear news of an impending visit from the stork, whose official sponsor, we hear, is Babies 'R Us.
