Does anyone else think PoC needs remodeling?

Today we visted the Magic Kingdom. twenty years ago the technology for Pirates of the Carribean was state of the art- now it is just really - well sorry- lame. The technology still works for the Country Bears, because anything sweet and furry is a favorite of the kids, but PoC needs to be changed.

Case in point- when our boats finished the ride the CM asked if everybody had a good time. Everyone in all the boats yelled NO!
That's not a good thing for Disney.

Give Disney suggestions for improving the ride.

I think they should have actors- of course Johnny Depp in person would do the trick for me!

I have to admit I'm torn on this idea. After our recent trip, I couldn't help but think how outdated the animatronics seem to be in many rides/attractions. I'm sure a better "skin" could be created that more closely resembles human skin and the movements of the characters could be refined a lot to be less "robotic". The traditionalist side of me, however, likes the kind of "retro" feel to the rides and am irritated by the changes made to make the ride more politically correct. I mean why is it OK to show an auction of the women but it's not OK to show the pirates chasing the women (and the reverse in one case)? Also, as I recall, in the auction area the large woman being offered previously lifted her skirt a bit. The "auctioneer" pirate still makes a comment about not showing her undercarriage (or some similar nautical term) but she no longer is seen to be lifting her skirt hem while the more attractive redhead is still showing some leg and flirting with the pirates waiting to bid.

I have to agree. I am torn. In one respect I want the feel of what I saw when I was a child but then again I want it to be even more spectacular. Talk about remodeling...Jungle Cruise, and even Peter Pan could use a little updating. I am sure they could do it so that it would just make the experience more ...Je ne sais quoi...I do not want to say real but less fake. I do not know if that makes sense but it is early in the moringing.

No!

Where's Mr. Toad? Where's Figment? Somethings are sacred!

I think the "trick" to be done here is in addition, not subtraction. Leave the original ride as is...it is a piece of history at this point and should be given that respect. What I would love is a small exhibit alongside the attraction that outlined the history of the attraction, the research and artistry that went into its creation...people are fascinated with imagineering and would love this. Then, when they went on the original attraction, they would have more of an appreciation of what it was (and is) and not expect it to compete with newer, more technologically saavy rides.

Personally, I'd rather have the energies of Imagineers (and $ of the corporation) behind new, exciting additions to the parks rather than remodels.
:D

must not have been to epcot lately, figment is alive and well achoring the imagination ride.

a close quote is "turn about honey, show em your larboard side"

I think they could make POTC better without making it different.
Maybe they could add a few things or just update the animatronics. I think some of the effects like the cannon fire and the "fire" in the buildings could be done more realistically now.:earsboy:

I think it's fine the way it is, it's a Disney classic!
