now Im not complaining OR bragging Im just curious if anyone else has a child like this.
Cam is a normal kid he loves to play and ride his bike and his scooter and be with his friends. His OTHER favourite thing to do is READ he will read anything and EVERYTHING ( my major pet peeve in life right now are bumper stickers  ) He walks around with his nose in a book most of the time. I think its great and I love it but its kind of funny too. He gets really wrapped up in the books too. He zones out completely and gets lost. He gets it from me I know I read everything I could when I was younger too ( and still do)

Anyway, does anyone else have a bookworm for a child?

My oldest ds is like this - just loves to read - when he was 6 he started taking piles of books into the bathroom with him.... I used to wonder how long he planned on sitting in there. :)

Both of my children are bookworks (as is my DW Sue). Sarah was in such a hurry to read as a child that she literally taught herself to read when she was 2yo. Both of them have more books than will fit on their bookshelves. I don't think that either of them can fall asleep without a book.

I look upon their love of reading as a blessing. Of course we've been through the bumper sticker phase too. I remember reading ALL the road signs to my parents when I was growing up. I'm surprised that they were able to cope with my "Do Not Pass" "Pass With Care" mantra.

No and I just don't understand it. I read so much as a child (and still do) I would completely zone out of the world and my mother would get so aggravated with me. I used to be told to put the book down and go outside into the sunshine. When I snuck the book out with me to read outside, I would really get in trouble

Neither by dh nor ds reads for recreation

I do. We have had to pry her away from her books. Now I know that is not bad but this is even on vacation!!

Yes!! Both of my teens still are! But then DH and I are also bookworms! We have books in EVERY room of the house! When we go on vacation - we buy books!

DS will even take a book or two and a lantern in his trunk with him on Scout camporees!

Oh Yes. 6yo dd has always asked Santa ever year for more books!! She is so happy now that she can read to herself!!:D

I'm a bookworm but unfortunetly my sons didn't inherit that gene!!! :D

DD and DS both like to read. DS who is 23 is currently into reading classic type books. He is currently reading The Time Machine. DD who is 26 likes anything that is Stephen King or similar!

Not here! I practically have to bribe DS to read a book. I'm not either. Reading has always put me to sleep...even in an uncomfortable chair.

Oh my YES! My DD is an avid reader. But then again, both myself and DH also love to read. One of our favorite things to do on a gloomy Saturday is to go antiqueing and to go to second hand book stores. It is wonderful to find old treasures that are no longer in print - like I recently introduced my DD to the Gene Stratton Porter books. Particularly "A Girl of the Limberlost" and "Freckles". I had to reread them again before I would let her! LOL!

I feel blessed that she naturally found a passion for reading.

I am a total bookworm, but my brothers are not. One summer my parents PAID my brothers to read, a penny a page. I asked them why they did not do that when I growing up and they told me that they would have gone broke! Haha! I still love to read and enjoy sharing new favorites with my family, friends, and colleagues.

8yo DD loves to read. She usually has several books going at once which totally drives me crazy. I am not and never was a reader. I have a hard time keeping up with one book let alone several at the same time. She claims she can't go a day without reading and our town's new library is her favorite place on Earth. (What about WDW?! LOL)
Truly, I am thrilled at her reading skills. Since DH and I are not readers, I am very happy to see her break that bad cycle!
I have read to her from day one--lots and lots of books!! In fact, reading those kids books has helped me a lot also. I read more now than ever. So, you CAN teach an ol' dog new tricks!
