I am sitting here watching Law & Order and just watched as they showed a room full of children that had just been shot. Everytime that I watch a show where a child is harmed I get really upset and cannot watch the show any longer.

Does this happen to anyone else or am I just an oddball?

Nope I have to change the channel and I can't get it out of my head. It gives me nightmares.

I can't stand it. My dh thinks it's really weird, but just the images haunt me for quite some time. Makes me run right to my kids everytime to check on them.

Anything to do with children bothers me. I will fast forward the icko parts.

I do not watch L&O anymore, except old reruns. Lennie is gone :( Anything w/Dennis Farina is a no-go. It just isn't the same.

For show like that I always read the synopsis and if it says anything that involves children I don't watch. Even some commercials bother me. I remember seeing a commercial for the HBO show Oz that involved a baby and it still bothers me when I think of it, I saw the commercial over 6 years ago.

The same thing happened to me. I had to shut it off. My husband and I were just discussing the fact that the could have told the story without showing the room full of children. What kind of entertainment is that?

I don't like how visually graphic these shows are becoming. Showing things like that seem so unnecessary, IMO.

I find the news sadder than L&O honestly. ::yes:: It is sad when it involves children but the sad fact is that a lot of this is "ripped from the headlines". So to answer your question it is sad but I still watch them and have never had one I couldn't watch.
Oh and to the poster who didn't like Dennis there's a new character this year. It's a woman and she was on the Dick Wolf show "Conviction" last year. She's ok, not great but ok.

Truth is always more sad than fiction when it involves things like this, and I always knew they typically did "ripped from the headlines" stuff, but I think what bothers me about it is that we were already sad when we saw it really happen, and now we have to relive it...and then have a visual of it. And that's the hard part...for me at least.

In books and movies, I am generally pretty tough. Generally.
I can handle the grown-ups, but they better leave the kids and animals alone.

I watched it too and it always upsets me when kids are involved. For the longest time I could not get myself to watch Without a Trace becasue I thought all the shoes were about kids being kidnapped. Well I finally watched a rerun and I found it wsa more adults disappearing then kids, although they do have a kid one and they always freak me out. I guess it just puts all these ideas in my head about the dangers out there for my kids. Gosh things have chnaged so much from when i was a kid, I wandered all over the place!

I like Law and Order but Without a Trace is definetely my favorite. I guess it is because 75% of the time the people are found alive. It gives me hope and helps me deal with the tragedy.
