This weekend I finally got into the craft room and managed to get some scrapping done - yay! I am so very far behind and will never get caught up. I just made it into 2005! :thumbsup2

I finished my dd's 6th birthday (she is now 11) and it is so sweet to see her that age again - and my ds is only 10 in the pictures and still looks like a kid - instead of the over 6' almost 16 year old he is now.

I miss my kids and their younger ages! And when I see my parents it also makes me sad as at their ages (85 & 90) 5 years back makes such a difference and I can see how much they have lost in those years. :(

I am glad that I scrapbook as it is fun to look back and remember things, but it is also a bitter reminder that time goes by much too fast.....

yes it does.....I have 08, 09 and of course this year to do....09 is going to be SO hard since they are our last memories of my DH, I can't even look at our xmas photos yet because I know they have our last photos of him in it, I just printed the whole memory card and put them away until I am ready.
sorry, have been thinking about doing these photos and they make me cry...

I am so glad that I do have my scrapbooks though, they are so treasured by us, even more so now! seeing how my Megan has grow so much is hard too, I wonder where that cute little baby face has gone, replaced by that cute little sassy face!

I did a bit this weekend.

I was at a crop and after 25 years of marriage, finally began work on my wedding scrapbook! For the first time since the wedding, I handled the original response cards (scrapped them in a fun "scattered" style across the pages) and got misty when I was holding the ones sent in by loved ones who are no longer with us.

I think this is the primary message of scrapbooking - we save this stuff, take these photos, and capture these memories. Then, they aren't lost or forgotten as we move through the good/bad/busy/bittersweet years of our lives.

Good question!

Mommy2mrb--so sorry for your loss. I agree sometimes scrapping is bittersweet and in the end, it is great that we do it! It may be therapeutic for you too, when you are ready.

thank you for your kind words....I know it will be therapeutic for me, I recently did an album of Jim's life birth to pre-me for our DD, was very simple but a wonderful gift for her.
the hard part will be that it's the last photos of him that we will ever have.

Mommy2mrb--

This is something I struggle with, too. I am scrapping DS's baby pics, and it is semi-likely that this will be the only "baby" we'll ever have. It's sad in a way to watch him grow up, and also to watch that era end. But, I think it cheers me to think that by scrapping, that will live on!

I agree too. I haven't been able to scrap anything with my mom in it, and she's been gone 6 yrs... maybe someday I'll finally be able to scrap my last Disney trip with her, and other events with her.

But, to keep from feeling too behind, I always balance some of the old with some of the new - I'll be going off to a scrap weekend next month, and plan to scrap some new baby pictures (from this June!!). I'll also scrap some of my DS pictures from 2007 and 2008 to try to catch up. I know I'll have to scrap some current DS stuff too, because he can better connect with the current than old stuff. Overall, I'm just thrilled I'll finally get some scrapping done, as I've done nothing since new DD arrived in June.

I do too - but as others have said, we have to do it for our children. The other day DS(10) said "If I could have anything I'd like a day fishing with Grandad D - who died 6 years BeFORE he was born. It just made me howl! But I can show him photos and tell him stories, or let him read them, so he feels he did know him. That's what matters.
