I get awful headaches for about 8 hours before a big thunderstorm or rainstorm hits. They stop as soon as the storm starts.

I'm sitting here nursing one right now.

I've heard it has something to do with a drop in the barometric pressure.

Just woke up from a 2 hour nap which helped me get rid of mine.

Between my head and my hip/knee pain, I can tell a storm is coming hours before the weatherman can.

Hope you feel better.

And yes, I have always heard it is d/t the drop in pressure.

Yep! I get them all the time on rainy days. Unfortunately mine don't go away even when the rain starts, usually! I'll have it for the rest of the day.

Hope your headache feels better.

I always know if its going to be a rainy day because I wake up with a sinus headache. I wish it would go away when the rain starts.

I do, and living in south Louisiana, I get them almost daily in the summer - have one right now. Mine don't go away when the rain starts.

YES! This started when I moved to MD from SC - not sure if something is different up here or if this is just a new trigger but I definitely get barometric pressure related migraines.

I lived in central Florida for 7 years where we would get daily afternoon thunderstorms and never noticed a correlation with migraines there.

This is exactly how I am.

i get it in the sinuses, and nothing helps. Well, Intill today! I tried a netipot I got for free and it was great! It made my headache tolerable.

Yes! It's horrible. I also get dizzy since the change in barometric pressure effects the fluid pressure in my ears.

I have terrible allergies and sinus problems. When a storm is coming in, the pain is so bad in my sinuses that I have to take Vicodin. Thank goodness I live in a region with little rain.

Yep. Get them all the time in the summer. Sometimes they let up when the rain starts and sometimes they do not.

Hope you are feeling better today OP. You aren't the only one, I get a headache every time the weather changes drastically and rain storms are included, but snow & strong wind can do it too. Sometimes they blossom into migraines and sometimes they just linger, it seems to depend on how quickly the disturbed air slides into the area. The quicker it comes in the more severe the headache. This time of year is very hard on people like us because storm systems seem to slide over the country every other day.

Yep. And living in an area where it rains a lot is not cool.

It is rainy right now, after being beautiful and sunny yesterday. I woke up with massive sinus congestion (time to use the Neil Med Sinus Rinse Kit). It is not fun. Luckily the headache has not kicked in yet. I am sure it will though.

I buy ibuprofen by the large bottles.

If your headaches are not allergy related, then the drop in the barometric pressure might be causing them. Our brains contain lots of water and are subject to changes in air pressure.

I've been suffering with them off and on for nearly a month now. The weather is all over the place here. The only relief I get is from HEAD ON migraine formula. I had a stick at home used it and it actually helped. Ibuprofen, tylenol, etc did nothing. Anyhow I just found out they don't carry HEAD ON anymore in Canada and I'm out of it. I'm about to cry I don't know what else to try, its the only thing that gave me any relief.

I thought I was the only one. We have had some really rainy weather this weekend and I have had a constant low grade headache that even tylenol has not been able to get rid of. I hope our weather clears up soon and that everyone else finds relief.

I've heard it has something to do with a drop in the barometric pressure.

It does. When the pressure in the atmosphere rises or drops it exerts a force on the people within the space of the pressure area. People with sinus/allergy problems can not deal with the pressure change because the sinus cavities are our bodies way of equalizing the spaces in our heads when outside pressure exerts force on our bodies. Since my sinus are often either full or too dry I can not equalize so the pressure builds up in my head and I get a headache.

That's why your eardurms burst in an explosion. 'The outside force is too forcefull for your sinus cavities to correct for and pop. When your sinus' fill during a cold and you sneeze the pressure can not correct and pop there goes your eardrums or the veins inside your nose. Sinus headaches are some of the worse that I have ever had.

I've had some so bad that they trigger a migrane. In fact I went undiagnosed for migranes for a long time because I just kept thinking they were really bad sinus headaches, but no amount of sinus pills would be enough to stop the pain. You might think they are just really bad sinus headaches, but I would tell your doctor that you are getting weather realated headaches, you may need something stronger to control them, so that you don't progress to something worse.

Yup - and so does my adult DD.. I can always tell what the barometric pressure is doing just by how my head feels.. Luckily mine aren't as bad as my DD's though.. Mine became less severe after I went through menopause.. Hers are nasty, killer migraines..:(
