Perhaps it's just me. Eating as much as you can in a period of time, and they report this as sport.

The movie "Stand By Me" ruined me from EVER watching an eating contest. I always think of that scene with the pie and the caster oil(sp) and well yall can figure out the rest! :scared:

I can't watch, it turns my stomach to see someone rinsing down a hotdog bun with water.......gag

Other than that, I have no issue

Yes it is different.

However there is something called "HURL" on cable TV now. I am not brave enough to watch. I think they eat until they throw up? Maybe I am mistaken but I don't have the stomach to watch.:scared:

It's not my cup of tea.

They freak me out. But it's like a train wreck and I can't look away! :rotfl2:

That 4th of July hot dog contest in New York amazes me. How do they eat that fast?! And that much?:confused3

If that's what floats your boat, then go ahead and eat away. Personally, I would never enter an eating contest. I like to enjoy my food. Swallowing large amounts at once has no appeal to me.

I think they are stupid but am not disturbed by them.

I think almost all contests are stupid, though. Just not competitive by nature. Who cares who throws the ball furthest or drives the car fastest or spits the best? Not me.

If you can eat more hot dogs than I can, good for you. I just don't care.

I agree and feel much the same way about buffets:scared: It seems like a "let's eat as much as we can possibly hold before exploding" type of thing to me:sad2:

I find them very disturbing. I think I have posted about it before.
They scare me -I am always afraid someone is going to aspirate. Plus I think it is just gross.

How in the world do they avoid choking to death?

I find it crude, replusive, and unhealthy.

They turn my stomach. I can't even watch without getting nauseous.

i love them. one of my goals is to watch the nathans contest live. i know, i know, i should keep my goals from becoming too much of a pipe dream.

True story:
My DH was once a Rita's Italian Ice addict. It got to the point that he couldn't go by a Rita's without stopping. When our local Rita's had an ice eating contest he entered. That cured him! He's been a twice a year Rita's guy since.

Yes. They scare me. I'm afraid a contestant is going to drop dead from a heart attack or ruptured stomach or something.

I have such a tiny appetite - no way can I watch those things! It makes me soooooooo sick to my stomach!
