Does anyone else ever dream of retiring to Orlando?

I would love to live there. I only have about 20 more years until I can.:(

cant say i havent considered it,, but actually we will proly retire in hot springs ar with a small storefront in the historiic district:)

I have to go out on a limb here and say no. I love, LOVE WDW, but I can't imagine moving away from the west coast. I am hoping to just be wealthy enough when I retire to go to WDW with my grandkids (and kids) once a year or so.

I had always said this was our last house, unexpected job transfers excluded. The idea of being a snowbird is growing on me, though. I don't think I'd want to live in Florida all year, but stranger things have happened. My in-laws are considering moving near SIL in Florida, partly because of my neice and partly because Florida has some of the best gerontology specialists in the U.S.

:o Oh Yea, all the time!!!!!!!!nana2tots:wave:

I have no desire to live in Orlando now or when I retire. I really haven't given much thought to where I would want to live when I retire, it's still a long ways off. I would consider the gulf coast though.

We have talked about it. Dh would love to be a pontoon boat captain and just talk to all the visitors. He thinks that is the perfect job. I could work just about anywhere on-site at WDW. Maybe at a front dest area, helping people get their room choices. Maybe as a villain of some sort. Or at the Haunted Mansion...now, that would be cool.

I dream of working somewhere at WDW - a "friend" of a character, perhaps or anywhere I can watch "The Magic" affect children daily. I lived in Florida (west central coast) for a year once and had my ups and downs but if I could work at WDW, well that would be my dream.

My hubby has lots of problems with hot, humid weather though so not sure if it'll ever happen for me. :(

Florida has so much to offer! Both the Atlantic side and the Gulf coast are gorgeous! The next time you are headed to Disney, take a day just to drive and explore the area you think you would want to live in.
Both coasts have areas that are actually quite a bit cheaper to live in than Orlando.
And don't worry about the heat. You will get used to it!!:wave2:

I want to relocate to Florida. Orlando area would be nice, but so would Tampa, and I'm sure there are many other areas. We lived in South Florida before and liked it, but I think we'd do better somewhere in central Fla. now. WDW is a prime consideration, but so is the weather and the general ambience of the area:D

I'm not sure that we will retire to Florida entirely. We would certainly like to be there 4-5 months, though. The idea that we could get outside without wearing tons of clothes and worrying about the footing is wonderful. I think we would prefer to be in horse country so I could bring mine. It's sure on our minds-check out my countdown!:teeth:
