I eat when I am sad, lonely and just not in a good mood. I just downed 6 double stuffed oreos after eating my bagel with peanut butter, I try and I try but food is my saviour that makes me feel good.

Yes! That's why I am now in need of the W.I.S.H. board. It is a tough habit to break!

I do that, too!!! Happy, sad, mad......... the only thing I can say is that since I have lost about 20 pounds since early summer, it is like I am on a roll which gives me motivation. Now, if I cold just find a little for exercising!

I have that about going to one of those hypnosis sessions where hopefully it tells me sub-consciencelt that I do not like the sweets and carbs.

Yes, I eat when I'm sad, happy, tired, nervous etc... I've been trying to keep heathier foods in the house so at least when I open the cabinet or fridge I won't feel so guilty.

Oh Gail, I can understand all too well. I eat when I am happy, when I am sad, depressed, upset...well you get the picture. Food is my comfort. I know it's wrong, but it's also true.

Sigh.

There is a trend wit hall of us who have replied thus far. Anyone else see it?

I just love breads and cakes. All the starches. I don't eat when I'm depressed or such, but I pack on the pounds all the same.

Definitely! I don't drink, I don't smoke. What's left?

mmm...chocolate...

that's my weakness...I'm doing better though and already lost 5 pounds. :) Just need to keep working on it!

But I understand...I used to be terrible and eat all the time...bored, tired, happy, sad, etc. Now I drink Pepsi 1 when I'm happy, sad, tired, bored...LOL :) Well, at least no calories...right?

Does anyone else see the trend? It appears only women do this or are willing to admit it.

Used to do that. Then I found Atkins and WISH and I don't do that anymore :)

I used to. I'd eat for all reasons or no reason at all, just "mindless munching." But, I've been diagnosed diabetic so now I have to really, really watch what I eat and be very, very careful. I am on glucophage and so far so good with the medicine, diet and exercise. I never, ever want to have to take insulin shots.

I usually try really hard not to, but I sure want to!!! And you went right for what my choice would have been. Oreo's double stuff. And I wouldn't have stopped with 6, more like 10.

I find I have to not buy desserts at all for my house. I still eat desserts on special occasions at someone else's house, but I don't buy sweets for my own house and throw them out if we get them for free.

Cuz they are exactly what I turn to when I am feeling sad. One time, I got left out of an outing with some girlfriends and was feeling really bad and ate the frosting off of an entire cake!!

Sounds like we are all in the same boat!

I have been in Weight Watchers since April and have lost 40 lbs.

I find that it really helps to have something to do with your hands---- sew, knit, scrapbook, anything.

Last night, I cleaned the coat closet in my living room -- I didn't eat amything for over an hour, threw out 2 bags of trash, and have a nice clean closet!

Thank goodness I found this thread!

I sometimes post on the WW threads too!

Food is a hobby for me. I know many psychologists will say I have hang-ups (I probably do), but I love to read cookbooks, recipes, etc.

One of the reasons I'm looking forward to WDW is all of the wonderful places to eat.

Brown Derby cobb salad and Intl Food and Wine festival, LOOK OUT! Here I (DH and DD too) come!:D :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I agree. I think men do it but they just can't admit their weakness.:D

weird but true, yes I do.......................wish I didn't tho........:(

Some oeople eat for comfort when they're down and some when they're happy.I do it when i'm up or down:( Hence weight problem:mad:

In a book 'Fat is a Feminist Issue' she says you overeat to feel in a gap within you.But of course food can never fill in the 'gap' for whatever many reasons there is a gap,so the overeating will go on until the reasons for the emptiness within is addressed:(

I obviously haven't managed it yet!

Yes, I do it, too. :o :(
I'm trying to get back on track with my diet, but I just can't seem to get my motivation back. :(
