Does anyone do this?

For an upcoming trip, I had a lightbulb go off over my head.

We are big water drinkers anyway, and I realized I could just bring my Brita pitcher from home, with a new filter, and use it in the resort room, filling it up from the tap (can't stand plain tap water). Then we could fill up smaller water bottles from it to take to the parks, as well as having basically a limitless supply of filtered water in the room without having to carry along gallon jugs of bottled water (which I've done many times in the past).

Whaddya think? Is housekeeping going to walk off with my pitcher? :)

That sounds like a good idea. I would hope Mousekeeping would not take the pitcher - they never take my clothes, stuffed animals or toiletries.

I'm taking the Brita water bottles this time. When I was younger my mom would always buy drinks for me but she won't be there this time. Even two years ago when I went with her I think we both ended up dehydrated b/c we didn't drink enough water. I'm now used to drinking lots of water and don't want to fork out lots of money for water in the parks. We can just fill up the bottles anywhere in the parks and have the water filtered when we drink it. We don't have a pitcher since the fridge at home has a water filter. You can always ask for a cup of ice water in the parks and then have cold water to drink from your bottles. The Brita bottles have a pretty wide mouth too so you can put ice in them easily. Since you already have a pitcher that probably is better than going out and buying brita bottles for everyone. They run $4-$7, I paid $6 each for mine.

That is a great idea. We always by a case of waater at the Costco or BJ's club-so we always have water also. But if you have a fridge with a freezer, we pour out half of the water into a pitcher and freeze the other half. Then when you are going to the park refill the othr half with the water you poured out-it is like a giant ice cube and lasts longer and stays cold. Then go back and do the same thing for the next day. Works great.
