Does Anyone Do THIS?

I saw a man walk into the McDonalds @ DTD and fill a non McD's cup with pop.
I have also seen a woman and her children filling pop & juice bottles at the filling stations at Pop. It just gets me so upset. What a thing to teach your children!?

I have seen many people using the foam cups at POR, POP AND CBR foodcourts to refill. When you think its only $10 for a mug and you think about the price people pay to stay at a Disney resort, and then pay for park entry I think WHY ?:confused3

I have NEVER thought of bringing one of the cups from my room with me on my way to the bus stop and filling it up in the food court. What a GREAT idea.Instead of lugging my refillable mug around the parks everyday,I usually shell out two dollars and change for a Coke at Sport Goofy on my way to the bus stop.Since I always buy a mug, does ANYONE see ANYTHING unethical if I start bringing a "room cup" instead of the mug to the food court on my way to the bus stop each morning?I am a "by the rules" type person, but basically I would just be using a different container to get drinks I am entitled to,right? Thanks.:)

Just b/c someone is not using WDW cups, does not mean they are stealing.

For example, my DH HATES drinking out of the disposable cups in the parks, food courts, etc.. so he always has his own cup (a plastic stadium-type cup with a coozie on it), and he will BUY his drink but FILL his own cup.

And before anyone says it, his cup actually holds just slightly LESS than the WDW paper ones... we've filled the WDW cup and poured it into his cup and had just a little left in the WDW cup.

It's amazing to me how much time guests spend watching (and judging) the behaviors of others while at WDW...... personally, I'm too busy ENJOYING my vacation to spend so much energy worrying about what "someone else" is doing!

It absolutely amazes me how people feel that it is okay to help themselves to beverages that they do not pay for. Would these same people take their McDonald's drinking cups and go to any McDonalds's for "free" refills?

Actually - yes they do this at McDonald's. My son worked at McDonald's while in college and many times had people bring coffee cups from other restaurants and request a "refill". Some were very upset when he refused and offered to sell them a cup of coffee. At least one time the person was not purchasing anything from him - just drove up and wanted free coffee:confused3

Would these same people take their McDonald's drinking cups and go to any McDonalds's for "free" refills? Do these people not realize that this is considered to be theft? After spending a couple of thousand dollars on a vacation, what the heck is another $20?:confused3

iuki
:sad2:

I have seen signs at some fast food restaurants stating that refills are only for drinks purchased at that location and not for cups that people bring back so that must mean there is enough of it going on to warrant some action.

Last trip, I saw people doing this at POFQ-right in front of the CM's!! I've also seen people with older refillable mugs. Obviously, the CMs must have been told not to make a big deal out of it. The paper cup thing is just classless,IMO.:sad2:

Now the using of an older refillable mug, I don't know how I feel about that. I know the rule and I haven't broken it yet, but I think Disney should come up with something where you pay a small fee to "reactivate" your old mug. I'm running out of room in my kitchen cabinets for all of these mugs I've gotten over the years!

In your DH case, he's doing nothing wrong. But I saw this woman tell her kid that they didn't need to buy a refillable mug for 12 bucks when they could fill up paper cups for free. That I have a problem with because it's stealing and stealing is wrong. I just rolled my eyes at her and didn't get into it...I figure it's Disney's job to curb the theivery. If anything, it's just puzzling to me.

Have you ever seen the movie Casino? Where they catch the guy cheating in the casino and take him downstairs and smash his hand with a hammer. All Im sayin' is, its in your best interest to buy the refillable mug. Thats all Im sayin! :rolleyes1

:lmao: Too funny.

We witnessed some customers being asked to leave the Beach Club Marketplace because they were using plastic (non WDW) cups at the drink station.

Actually they were asked to leave when they got mouthy with the CMs. The CMs were very nice about asking them not to use the regular plastic cups and pointed out that the drink station was only for those purchasing drinks or using a refillable mug.

The customers got really nasty with the CMs and in the process, it was discovered that they weren't even staying on Disney property! They had left EPCOT and walked to the BC just to get free drinks!

oh WOW! tHE THINGS SOME PEOPLE WILL DO THAT IS TOTALLY CRAZY!!

There was a thread on this about a month ago and boy did it get heated!

I think some said this is the very type of thing that leads to really bad crimes, and that it degrades society, blah blah blah

I would never do this because my parents helped give me a strong moral compass, I don't think its the end of the world either!

Hahahaha Even Coke advertises that you should "sip steal!"

Oh how I hope this thread doesn't end up like the last one of its kind!

I'd love to know how many people using paper cups from the rooms have actually paid for a refillable mug!

Worse for me though are those who take back refillable mugs from previous years and think it's fine to use them without paying.

The mugs are valid for the length of your stay people - not for the length of every stay, ever!!!

Reusing old mugs time and time again is cheap, nasty and downright dishonest!

And it keeps the price high for those of us that pay for a new mug each time as we are having to pay for those that think it's ok to steal drinks.

Grrrrr!

Because...see my post above.

I hadn't thought about that, but yeah, are there actually McDonald's paper cup refillers?:confused3 :lmao:

Now THAT would be cheap. And those cups are flimsy compared to the sturdier ones at WDW.;)

Funny about the McDonald's thing, but my millionaire uncle does this with the coffee cup.  Now I, on the other hand, couldn't even imagine doing such a thing! :rotfl:

The Russians have a great word that describes those who take without paying or otherwise display a lack of upbringing -- "uncultured."
