Does anyone actually WALK to Epcot from the Epcot resorts?

WE almost always stay at BWV and occsionally Swan/Dolphin.....98% of the time we walk to the parks. Both Epcot and MGM are a nice walk and always faster then the boats....

If we are really tired and a boat is right there at the docks we might take it back...

Count us in too.

We have always walked to Epcot and MGM. Only exception is when the kids looked at the boat as another "ride".

Now we always walk. Like the others we especially enjoy the walk late at night...very magical.

When we stay in the Epcot resorts, we usually stay in BCV, but we have stayed at both S/D and BWV. It's faster and easier to walk to both Epcot and Disney Studios. Plus, we've been walking anyway, so it's no big deal.

I love walking to EPCOT and MGM from the Swan/Dolphin area. My DS can still ride in a stroller so I can get away with all that extra walking. Next year I'll probably have to take the boats. For small kids it is way too much walking on top of the park walking.

The walk to MGM is quiet and beautiful. I love the "down time"!

When we stayed at the YC, I think we took the boat to epcot in the morning, walked back in the afternoon. We walked back in the evening and after the lazer show we walked back to our resort. The best part was not having to wait for a bus after the show. Walking was not a problem at all, I thought very relaxful.:sunny:

We frequently walk from our "home away from home" resort the BWV to Epcot. Ocassionally we walk to MGM, as well.

We enjoy staying at the Swan. I do like the resort launches, but S/D guests must travel to YC/BC and BW before going to Epcot so it takes a few more minutes. I love the walk over the Boardwalk. It is fun, smells great at the bakery and restaurants, etc. We always walk back from Epcot to the Swan and really enjoy this stroll. The lights reflect off the water and you can hear music from the piano bars, etc. Very enjoyable even if we are tired. Timewise, for us it is about the same as the launch, but we stroll--not power walk.

Haven't done the walk to MGM. S/D is the last stop so we get on the launch and ride direct to the park.

Unless you have a health problem that prohibits walking or small children, I don't think the walk would be stressful.

We stay at BW and always walk. We find it is not a very long walk at all.

Think of it this way, compare the walk from your room to the boat dock. Look at the same distance going towards MGM. Factor in bonus time if you take one of the stairways near Community Hall, and you are halfway to MGM. Don't forget the wait for the boat, and additional stops.

Being an impatient NY'er maight have something to do with it as well!

We usually stay at the BCV or BWV and always walk to Epcot.
It depends on MGM. If we are tired, we take the boat, if we
are in a hurry and the boat just left, we walk.

Got to burn off all those Mickey Head Ice creams!

We always walk to and from Epcot from the YC or BC, and we did also when we stayed at BWV. We take the boat to MGM, as we're just used to it, at it is a farther distance.

The walk to/from Epcot is very nice. In the morning, it's fun to watch the ducks on the way over. On the way home, we sometimes stop at the Boardwalk, or sit on the beach before going to the room (sometimes with take-out from the French bakery :p).

We walk!!! We did a comparision because I(the adult) and they(the children) disagreed on the quicker method. I 'walked' it and they 'rode' it....and I won every time!!!! We did this from the S/D and the YC/BC. The boat has to make stops but your feet don't!!!

Does anyone actually WALK from the epcot resorts to Epcot and MGM? I MIGHT walk from BC to Epcot but everything else seems quite far. I know people list the proximity to Epcot and MGM as a big plus from resorts like BC/YC, Boardwalk and S/D, but it seems to me that if you are taking the water taxi that it wouldn't save you a significant amount of time over commuting from one of the MK resorts. (Same would be true in the reverse, in my opinion). Has anyone done a time comparison?

All of the time. Over the years we have stayed at the BWI, the YC twice and the Dolphin twice. We have walked to MGM and EC. We do also use the boats. But sometimes you can beat the boat to EC by walking. We just base it on how we are feeling.

We have walked to EPCOT from BC, BC Villas, Boardwalk and Swan/Dolphin. We like to stay on the EPCOT side of BC Villas and can see Illluminations from our balcony each night. We actually found it easy and fast to walk through EPCOT from the International Gateway to the front of the park by Spaceship Earth to get on the monorail(S) to MK. It is alot of walker but you can go at your own pace and not wait for buses. That is just our preference though. We love being at the EPCOT resorts better than by MK even with young kids. Our little boys love EPCOT and it is nice to come and go throughout the day/night for breaks and such. We will often go to the World of Nations in the evening and just stroll around and watch all around us.

Yes we walked to Epcot from BC and to MGM. Also walked to both from the Dolphin. If we are tired we may take the boat back from MGM. That is why we love staying in that area.

We always walk to Epcot and usually walk to MGM from BWI or BC. It just seems so much faster that the boats!:D

We walk to Epcot from the BW every time, unless it is raining. And Walk to MGM from BW 90% of the time. My kids are 11 & 13 and we are have done this for a couple of years.

we've stayed at BC, YC, BWI & BWV ~ and the beautiful walk is one of the major reasons we stay in EPCOT resorts.
we play little "games" amongst ourselves (over vs. under bridge races, etc), say "hi" to all the other ppl, watch & talk to birds & geckos, puddle jump, & discuss whatever pops into our heads.

many, many *magical memories* have come from those walks........:D

Although we've never stayed at an Epcot resort before, we do quite a bit of hopping between Epcot and MGM when we're there. We usually spend the morning at one park, then have lunch at one of the Epcot resorts and spend the afternoon at the other park.

Since hubby has a scooter, we most definitely walk it!

When we stay at the Epcot area, we usually stay at Yacht or Beach. We walk to Epcot for sure. It's not far and it's certainly a pleasant walk with beautiful scenery. We have even been known to walk to MGM versus taking the Friendship. We like to stroll and take it all in.

Anything that avoids a bus to me is convenient. I'd much rather sit on the friendship for 15 minutes than take a bus anywhere...for any amount of time.

We have stayed at the Yc and BWI and enjoy the walk to epcot but the huge draw back for my kids is that at park opening and early morning at epcot you are coming in the back way and by the time you make it to test track or mission space the lines are already long. We have even been the first thru the turnstile at the international gateway and my 14 year old jogged and there were a ton a of people already there from the front of the park. We still love the resort area but it does have it's draw backs if you want to go to future world in the mornings and avoid the long waits.
