With my age group there's Euchre and poker, but noone seems to play bridge. I love the game and think its challenging and fun. Why do you think people stopped learning or playing the game? Just curious and feeling a bit nostalgic today.

My 88 year old grandma plays Bridge. And Spite & Malice. And Canasta.
She plays with her 80-year-old friends and my 60+ aunt.
My mom never learned any of those odd card games and certainly nothing that required couples' play. She taught me Gin, and Nana taught me Poker and Blackjack. She was the cool grandmother.

I've always wanted to learn to play, because I thought it would be a great "couples" thing to do.

I could never find anyone to teach me, let alone to play with.

How difficult is it? From a non-player, it seems challenging to learn.

It's challenging, but so much fun. Lots of strategy, forward thinking and card counting. Once you have the bidding down, the rest is all downhill. It's best to learn with a partner you plan to play with so your bidding syles match, but any game is fun. Warning though - once you learn bridge, the other games like Euchre and spades can seem a bit boring.
