My cat Phil (who died several years ago) used to pick up folded socks from the laundry basket and deposit them around the house. Now our newest cat (Pesto) pulls laundry out of the laundry basket and pulls it up the stairs. I find socks all over the house. When he runs out of socks he pulls out t-shirts and sweaters. I started bringing the laundry basket upstairs and now he is pulling wet socks off the drying rack!:rotfl:

Our cat doesn't do that but he loves to sleep in the laundry basket all the time!! :)

My cat has no personality whatsoever. She just eats and poops.

The dog, on the other hand, is a nightmare. Socks, shoes, shirts, pillows, anything she can fit in her mouth, she'll drag around. I've never had a dog like that. I can't keep up with her.

Our cat Chloe will spend hours pulling clothes out of cracks in drawers if I'm not careful to close them all the way.

I accidentally left my underwear drawer cracked about an inch last week, and I came home from work and found a big pile of underwear on the floor under the drawer. It must have taken her forever. :rotfl:

I know it's her, because she's woken me up trying to dig out various drawers in the middle of the night. :sad2:

When I had my Sheltie and my cat Pudder I came home from work one day to find that she had opened my closet and the dog had taken one of each of my shoes and put one on each step going downstairs. So we assumed they had been playing shoe store.:rotfl2:

My only guess as to what Pesto is doing is that in his little brain he thinks he's helping.

Um no. That would drive me batty.

My cat does pee in the toilet though. Swear to God. And no, I didn't teach him to do that.

I had a cat, Miss Kitty, who started as a kitten. She started bringing us little footies. She grew and started to bring knee socks. Eventually she hauled my big sister's tights from the laundry too.

I just reread my writing. Of couse she started as a kitten!:goodvibes All cats start as kittens.:cloud9: I meant she started carrying tiny socks when she was still tiny!:goodvibes

I had a cat that had a stuffed sock and it was his girlfriend, even after he was neutered, if you KWIM.:teeth: We'd try to remember to throw it in the closet before company would come over as he liked to drag it out and get frisky in front of our guests.:rotfl:

I thought my cat was the only one who did this. I guess she's not so strange after all.

My dd's cats do something slightly different. They're hooked on the plastic caps that come on the sports cap water bottles. They will literally follow whoever around if they see that they pulled a water bottle out of the closet. And when we come home from the gym they're all over the gym bags to see if we left any caps in there. Then they carry them all over the house trying to prevent one another from stealing it-meowing. They'll chase those things all over the house. When I clean I have to move the furniture and remove the "lost" ones and try to throw them out before the kitties find out I'm cleaning:rotfl2:

Mine also do this. If they find a stray cap they play hockey with it on the floor (wood laminate). If it goes down the stairs to the basement they pick it up in their mouth and carry it back upstairs to continue playing.

Mine are obsessed with those water bottle lids, too. :rotfl:

I had a cat who only stole knee-high hose from the laundry. He would dig through piles or baskets of laundry until he found them. Something about them really amused him. I would find piles of them under the bed, behind the dresser, etc.

One of ours, Eva, has done this since she was a little kitten. When the socks were longer than she was she would walk with her legs spread appart and the sock would be trailing underneath her.
We call them her sock kittens. She also makes that strange half purr half meow sound that momma cats do when they are calling or carrying their kittens.

My cat loves rolled socks! You have to hide them from him -he also loves anything chenille- he took a chenille sweater of mine off the drying rack and last week I purchased a travel pillow I found it upstairs the next day so I thought DH moved it but then I kept finding it all over on the floor so I knew he took it- so now I have to hide it- he also growls like a dog and shakes the socks in his mouth like a dog- if you throw them he will fetch them too:confused3 When DD was packing to go back to school she had several pairs of slipper socks she had gotten for xmas he kept running in her room and taking them out of the suitcase! So no you are not alone.:)

Our cats adore bottle caps as well--we have quite a bit of wood laminate hockey here too.

They enjoy socks, but usually find something more diverting to play with.

I used to have a cat that carried rolled up socks around like they were her kittens. :goodvibes

luckily none of the cats I have had ever did this - one was a lint sucker though.....

our biggest deal is the dog won't stay out of the garbage - he has a thing for used tissues that is driving me to distraction!!!!:sad2:

I have three, but only one is a thief- the one I found scrounging for food in a dumpster- go figure. He steals jewelry! I thought I was just having an unlucky streak until I caught him one day. Now I have a proper jewelry box and don't loose anymore. I gave him all my margi gras beads in exchange to play with. Funny thing is, I moved and never found any of it- he is a good hider! Also, straws- he will steal them right out of your drink- and knock the drink over half the time. He is generally timid, but if he spots a straw he will move in.
