Does anybody else hate this about some movie trailers...?

When they show a scene where the character says the name of the movie? It drives me crazy, for some reason! It just makes me laugh and think of the movie as silly!

What made me think of it was a commercial I just saw for The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Nicholas Cage actually says a line "I am a sorcerer and you are my apprentice." So stupid!

There was a movie a few years ago called "Runaway Jury" and I specifically remember in the commercial someone actually yells, "My jury is running away!" It just seems ridiculous to me!

Does anyone else ever pick up on this? I've seen it more than just in the two that I've mentioned....

DH and I always look for the titular line in a movie. Happened in "Predators" last night too, during the movie.

I hate having to watch trailer after trailer before the movie starts. I wish I could get to the theater after these are over but I don't see so well in the dark and I don't want to risk falling on my butt in a theater full of people LOL

I also can't stand the commercials that are before the trailers. I thought the reason to see the movie in the theater was to avoid the commercials

I'm expecting a movie called the Sorcerer's Apprentice to have both a Sorcerer and the applicable Apprentice. To me it would be rediculous if the subject matter had nothing to do with the title, or if they just ran around saying "I'm a you know what"

I'm not saying the subject of the movie should have nothing to do with the title! I just think it's a little condescending to have a line like that, like we are too stupid to figure out what's going on in the 30 second commercial! Just makes it seem silly to me.

For some movies, when you see the trailer you've seen all the best parts of the movie. And I think they have only one guy that does all the dramatic narration.

I love movie trailers, I get mad when I am late for a movie and miss some of the previews.

It depends on the movie.

If I'm going to a movie that I like the genre of, I love the previews because they match the demographic. If it's a movie I'm going to because of my son or someone else and I'm just TOLERATING the genre.. it's TORTURE.

I was thinking the same thing. Recently went to see Ironman 2 and the scene from the trailer where Pepper says "Go get em boss" and then Tony Stark says "You complete me". It shows her throwing his helmet out of the plane and then him jumping out. In the movie it shows him running and diving out of the plane. This is where he opens the expo.

And the trailers for comedies...where they show the only few funny parts of the movie...in the trailer.


Not a movie theater movie, but we watch a lot of the disney channel in our house. While they aren't the epitome of Oscar flicks---the movies aren't all that bad.

One summer---they heavily promoted the cheetah girls movie premier with tons of airings of the One World music video. I was a bit surprised that the video...was the conclusion of the movie. Again---nothing to write home about...but who promotes a movie...with the ending???

That soooo bugged me with The Negotiator. They had a scene where Kevin Spacey does something...I can't remember what. But it was a pretty powerful line that drew us to go see the movie. We remember that scene not being in it and when it came out in rental format, we actually watched just for that scene. And it wasn't there. Often scenes get cut for time or that it is unnecessary to convey the story. While we enjoy the movie...we always miss that scene.

I also hate when trailers give away too much of the plots. The trailers for Castaway and The Others are good examples. I don't mind seeing trailers in theaters. But I don't care for the some of the commercials that air before them.

It's pretty common for trailers to have scenes that don't appear in the final cut. I have noticed in the past year horror films will usually have 2-3 trailers before release and often you can tell that they do it mainly because of editing and reshoots.

If I miss the previews, I get so mad that I'd rather skip the movie!

Also, stuff gets cut from the film all the time but still makes it into the trailer.

What were you mad about? Thought they gave too much away? I think the trailer is awesome! Makes me so psyched for the movies.
