It's the "easy" way out. Do something stupid and illegal, claim substance abuse.

I think a bigger question, is why is our countries leadership going to rehab?! I mean, who are we voting in here?

I'm in Foley's district and there's quite a few down here wondering just how long this man's problems have been known in Congress. The fact that Foley is gay is an open secret here, but as for the rest of his problems, who's covered up what? The whole process has become nothing but spin and the voter ends up the loser. Apparently, we don't know who we're voting for and apparently, we dont' have a right and access to that information.

The alcoholism "excuse" is nauseating. It reeks of avoiding responsibility for one's actions -in Foley's case anyhow. I am a registered Republican, but I am outraged at the notion that Congressional party leadership MAY have covered this up somehow. These are children -for crying out loud -that were deliberately put in harm's way and nothing more was done proactively than to say "Stay clear of Foley; he's kind of weird." As a parent it makes me realize that I really should trust my children to no one.

LuvDuke, I'm sorry for the voters in your district. I'm sure it is really infuriating for you guys, if all of us not in the district are this upset. You are right though, it seems nowadays we have no idea who we are voting for anymore. It truly is a shame.

Wow. On Facebook, you can add candidates and post on their wall, etc. So I happened to search for him and found people still adding them to their "list of candidates they support." Even one person wrote they support him as they think he will help the case of the district or something to that affect.

So strange.
