Does Alamo have a "no-line" membership program like National?

I was on Alamo's web site and saw they have a program called Quick Silver. Is this equivalent to National's Emerald Aisle/Reserve program? Can you bypass the rental counter line and go directly to your car. If so, does it work just like EA/ER?

Thanks in advance...

well i called customer service and they told me it is no longer available, they said they have not updated the website

They just updated their website about 2 months ago. The application is still out there. Personally, I would call the QS number and speak to them.
My DW and I just received new cards about 1 month ago.

It is for corporate and business only now.

When I phoned earlier this week I was told it's not available anymore it's been discontinued.

I wonder if it is discontinued to new members or to all. I asks for my QS number when I make reservations. Interesting.

Huh-I just booked with them today for March and put in my quicksilver number as well-no problems and it did print out on my confirmation.

I'm not sure as to the status of Quicksilver overall, but MCO doesn't offer Quicksilver service.

Normally, there's a kiosk where you can scan your CC, and select your car - bypassing the counter. But MCO doesn't have such a kiosk.

There's a dedicated line for Quicksilver members, but you do have to go to the counter, and you may end up having to wait.

QS members at MCO just go and select their car and drive to the kiosk and check out.

OK, Now I'm thoroughly confused!!!

I guess I will try calling Alamo CS and see if I can get a definite answer. I will post back when I get done.

earlier this year they were updating the quicksilver program and some lost their "status" when the computer software was updated

when we called about re enrolling they said we would have to have 5 rentals before we would be reinstated....and 5 rentals a year to continue in the program.....thus they are probably trying to weed out the occasional leisure traveller in the program

this was back in august/september

they may have changed policies since then

Alamo does not have any thing that would relate to any kind of customer service like a fast lane. You are required to stand in line because it gives the Alamo employess more time to fiqure out how to rip you off and terrorize you more....

Do I detect a note of hostility???

I was cruising over on Flyertalk.com not too long ago and noted several complaints about QuickSilver.

Basically the little kiosks are being phased out and replaced by LINES! (Alamo seems not to understand that your average business traveler is into LINE advoidance!)

I will say that I don't rent from Alamo since thier idea of Customer Service is "Get in Line and WAIT"

Alamo had the cheapest rate in feb 04 so i went with them only b/c I could use quicksilver.

I arrived at the counter and there had to be at least a 1-2 hr. It took me a little while to find the quicksilver line but there was no one in it and I was waited on immediately.

That's when it went downhill for Alamo. The lady at the counter was extremely pushy and rude about insurance, gas and so on. Then they refused to honor my rate even though I had the confirmation with me (everything was legit--no expired coupons or such).

I finally get the manager and she refuses. When they see I'm not going anywhere they eventually honored my rate but they made it seem like they were doing me this huge favor.

Hey, I didn't spend all this time researching the internet and entering codes and coupons just to get there and have them jack up my cost for no reason!

So for me to rent with them again, they'd have to be at least $50 cheaper than any other car rental to make it worthwhile.
