Does AAA always offer a discount?

Hi, I am hoping somebody can help me. We are planning on staying October 25-Nov. 1 at All Star Movies. I called AAA to get the package price of room, dining and tickets and it was the same price I got from the Disney website. Is that because the agent doesn't know what she is doing or is there no discounts available through AAA? I thought they always had a discount they could apply??? :confused3

No There are black out dates. I know that I couldn't get one during from December 30-Jan 11, 2009. Actually AAA price was about 200.00 than WDW directly.

lovepooh, there should have been some kind of discount for those dates, unless the ones for the resort you chose were already booked and that is probably what happened. They only have a certain number of rooms at each resort avail for the discount and when those are gone, you are out of luck. You should have gotten at least 10 to 15% off for those dates. I would call WDW directly to see if they have any AAA rooms avail for your dates for your resport and if they do, call your AAA TA back and have her correct it.

pigletforever, you will never pay more than WDW prices for a package, so if they charged you an additional $200, you need to find out why, quickly.

lovepooh, I entered your dates at my AAA website and got 15% discount on rooms at ASMo. But AAA doesn't always offer packages, so if you asked your TA to book a package, maybe that's why there was no discount. I don't see any packages at AAA at the moment other than the WP&M upgrade for April & May. Of course, that doesn't mean there aren't other packages available or that other package won't be available soon. If there aren't any packages currently it might be less expensive to book the room separately, but you would have to give up dining.

If there aren't any discounts with AAA for room only, there won't be any packages, but if there is an available discount for a room only, then you can get a package. I have never heard of AAA not offering a package. The discount is off the room only even when part of a package. The WP&M package is offered by WDW, not AAA. There are always packages available through AAA.

Sometimes there is no Disney packages link on my AAA website. That may not mean that packages aren't available. I'm not sure why it isn't there all the time. But right now they have the WP&M package only on the website and yes, it's the same package offered by Disney but booked through AAA.

We usually use DU for our March room-only reservations. Every year but this one, they have gotten us a AAA rate. I was surprised because I think I booked earlier this year than past years, but I'm guessing that there must be a limit per resort and we are going Apr1-7th and are generally there mid March...so that may have something to do with it?

We use to do our trips directly thru AAA, but I love using DU, because they do the ADR for you.

Thanks everyone for your help. I went on the AAA site myself and the cost was a lot cheaper than both WDW and the AAA agent gave me. I called my agent back and asked her why it wasn't cheaper and she really didn't give me much of an answer. She said she could only save me like $20. It didn't even make sense what she said. I was looking at getting two rooms at an All Star resort and the cost on the AAA site was $94.35/night (one room) preferred view versus the rate disney and AAA agent gave me which was $111.00 for one room in a preferred view. That adds up to $376 difference for two rooms for 7 nights. That is a big savings! The only problem is I want the dining and I'm not sure how to book that online myself. So I put a call in to an agent that someone referred me to and hopefully I will have more success tomorrow after I talk to her.

Our AAA site doesn't show packages and you certainly can't book them online, you have to call an agent. I am lucky to have one here in town and I can check behind her and make sure I am getting what I am supposed to get.

Call back and get another agent, one who knows his or her stuff. Ask for a copy of the book, and let him know the price you got onlne.

If he can't get you the same price, ask for a new agent.

The last time I tried to book a room only AAA discount through CRO (not AAA) the CM told me they didn't have any AAA discounted rooms. I had the AAA website up at the time and had already entered my dates and could see the discounted rooms at the resort I wanted. So I mentioned that the AAA website had my dates discounted and the CM checked again and, sure enough, she came up with the discount. I don't think she was intentionally trying to overcharge me - she just made a mistake. Sometimes, it pays to be get all the information you can before you make your reservations. Hope your new TA can find a better deal for you, lovepooh.

I talked to the new TA this morning and sure enough, she was able to get me a discounted rate. It was several hundred cheaper than what the other lady quoted me. :cheer2: So I cancelled with the first TA and now have a reservation through the new one. I am excited. However, we are staying at All Star and we have been spoiled over the past few vacations, renting points from a DVC friend as well as staying at Poly, etc. I hope we enjoy it. I know we will like having more space (two rooms) with 4 kids!!!
