Does a WDW park ticket exist that does NOT come with Fast Pass privileges?

I have always said that one can get Fast Pass with every park ticket. DS is going on a school choir trip this week which includes two days at WDW. Their director is telling them that they will not be able to get fast passes and they will have to pay extra for that if they want it. I think he is getting that confused with Six Flags. I don't think there is even a means to PAY for fast pass.

Is it possible that there is some sort of group ticket that does not come with Fast Pass privileges? :confused3

I think he is making that up...

Maybe something has changed, but I thought everyone could get fasspasses at this point in time. :confused3

I have never heard of such a thing. From what I know, ALL types of admission offer the FP option for free.

I doubt there is such a ticket, if the kids have a ticket to put into the turnstyle to enter the park that ticket will be valid for a fastpass.

If they are performing and then allowed to stay in the park they may be accessing via bus backstage and thus not actually have a park ticket. Just thinking back to my drumcorps days when we entered backstage via bus, not sure if that is done anymore.

It could also be that the chaperones are holding the tickets and as such the kids won't have access to them after they have entred the park. Depending on the ages of the kids this may be the case. I was on the bus from BWI to AK with a middle school group and this is what the chaperones were doing. It was the chaperones denying the use of FP to the kids not Disney. I felt bad for the kids as they really wanted to try EE and the chaperones said no to FP they had to wait in line. IMHO they could have just gone with the kids to EE, gotten them FP's and then taken the tickets back for safekeeping. Not to mention that many of them should have been chaperoned while in the park but that's another topic.

Anyway - Hope your dd gets to use FP! I would shoot a quick email to guest communications to clarify, in case the director is misinformed.

No. The choir director is wrong, plain and simple. Tell your son and his fellow choir members that it doesn't matter *WHAT* admission tickets you get at WDW...ALL park guests have equal access to the FastPass slips.

If the other kids don't believe them? They should try getting a FastPass at the first attraction they encounter, see which adult is wrong..."Mom" and her fellow DIS-ers or the director :teeth: .

agnes!

ETA: Ah, I just read the post about the various possibilities(chaperones' holding tickets, no admission tickets actually issued because of backstage entry, etc). That might be what is happening here. Contact the choir director asap and ask for clarification - sometimes kids *do* get things mangled.

They are not performing at WDW. They get in just like everyone else. Their tickets are not park hoppers and they are forbidden to exit the parks, so there is no reason for the adults to hold their tickets.

I just tried to call the outside tour director for clarification - 8:35 east coast time. He was very snippy with me and told me to call during regular business hours (9 am).

The "pay extra" portion of your post may indicate that the kids will not have tickets and would have to buy a park ticket themselves to get FP.

On our recent Spring Break trip, my 16-year old nephew chose to go with us (10 days flying) rather than his high school band (4 days bus ride). Each day after park entry, the leaders confiscated all their tickets. They were told it was to prevent them from park hopping, leaving the park, or losing their ticket. It was a shame that it also stopped them from using Fast Pass during one of the busiest times of the year!

As we were leaving the Magic Kingdom we got Fast Passes with our tickets for Big Thunder Mountain and handed them to a group of his friends. They were very grateful! :goodvibes

He told me later that the leaders relented on the last day and let them keep their tickets to use for Fast Pass at EPCOT.

What a shame that Band Leaders feel they have to deny them the use of Fast Pass!

The leader is on crack. All tickets are good for fast pass use, even Cast IDs when used to enter the park. He also may be thinking of Universal, although I think I read they have stopped letting you buy an express pass.

OP here: I talked to the director of the tour company (the guy who scolded me for calling before business hours - as if I know what their business hours are!) He said that the kids will have two day non-hoppers and that the kids will hold their own tickets. He said that while the two day non-hoppers USED to not have fast pass availability, they do now, so yes, the kids can use Fast Pass. I know he's not telling the truth about how they used to not have fast pass, but the guy was so incredibly rude to me that I didn't want to argue with him.

Just in case you're planning a school trip: US Integrity Touring Company: VERY rude to parents who call with questions.

Many moons ago, when Fast Pass first came out, I do not think you could use it if you had a single day ticket. I remember a friend of mine was down and had a one day pass and we had the multiple day passes and she could not use Fast Pass - that has all changed now.

It might be a good idea to get your son a lanyard with a plastic ticket holder attached, like the ones used for sporting events. That way he can put the ticket away, but have it handy for fast pass use. I'm sure that none of the kids would like to loose their ticket and then not be able to use fast pass.

When FastPass first came out, ANY ticket, whether valid or not, could be used to get FastPasses. I tried it out myself...

Current annual pass... CHECK!
Blizzard Beach ticket... CHECK!
Old park hopper... CHECK!
One Day/One Park... CHECK!

What must have happened to your friend is that her ticket wasn't properly scanned , after they upgraded the system to prevent the kind of abuse I illustrated above. That way, the system didn't register the pass as valid.
