Does a studio have a washer and dryer?

It doesn't look like they do. I'm not sure I could use the same towels for regular use and pools for four days. I don't think they would ever be dry. Anybody have problems with this? Do you bring extra towels with you? Just curious - another reason to use to convince DH we need a one bedroom

Oops - sorry - this should have gone in the DVC planning board. Mods please move it when you get a chance

The pools have towels available so you won't need to double use the towels. But, no, the studios do not have a washer or dryer.

but we get extra towels from the pool and bring them back to the room if we are short on towels. We hate using wet towels day after day. This is when we are in the studio.

When we are in a room with the W/D, I just wash the towels with the rest of my laundry.

And when you stay in studios there is a laundry somewhere in the resort for your use. I haven't needed to wash towels -- used pool towels at the pool, and that was fine.

Just add the towles package for $6 and get the extra set also at most resorts there is a W/D at all the pools that are free to use and have soap avail for $1.

All DVC resorts have laundry facilities for studios. The only one I've used is at SSR and it's near the main pool. I think there were four or five washers and the same of dryers. Not sure where the other resorts are, but, I do know they all have them. W/D are no cost, but, you do need to supply your own detergent (which they have for $1.00 if you need it) I usually just doublebag a Ziploc with enough for a couple loads and throw it in the suitcase. I do this no matter whether we're in a 1 or 2 bedroom with W/D or a studio.

Thanks for the information, and thanks for correcting me about the pool towels. I thought I'd read somewhere that DVC pools didn't have towels, but now that I think about it, that doesn't really make sense because some DVC pools are also regular resort pools.

We are brand new DVC and the one thing I think I'm going to miss is housekeeping. I know some of you prefer it without housekeeping. I hope I find I prefer it too, but I'm still concerned. I had convinced myself that the towel situation would be okay because we could just throw them in the washer each morning, then I realized that the studios didn't have washers. Anyhow, you gave me some great ideas ( I didn't know you could purchase an extra towels package) but I think I've convinced DH we should try a one bedroom first. We're not planning on going until next January, so we've got lots of time to change our minds - LOL

Thanks again for the help

It sounds like you need to read your new guide book from cover to cover and peruse the member's web site to get a good feel for what is available. Besides purchasing a towel pack each day, you can also pay for a full cleaning each day or any day you choose, or you may pay for trash and towel service any day you choose. I believe a towel pack is $6 and trash and towel service is $10/day. A full cleaning for a studio is $25 a day.

I miss housekeeping, too, but not enough to pay for it.. :hyper: .. Hotel beds tend to be designed to be easy to make, so we just throw ours together each day (not that we ever make a bed at home, but a hotel room - even a big DVC two bedroom - is too small for unmade beds).

Just a word of caution......once you get a 1 bedroom it will be very hard to go back to a studio!!!!!! You will get addonitis VERY quickly!!!!

This is the reason I've booked a studio for our stay in December! It'll be me, DH and DS (4) in a studio!! When we went in Sept, we had a 2 BR, so I know DH will be ready to add one then!! :cool1:
