Dodgers' game?

My husband and son want to catch a dodgers' game but they don't want the hassle of renting a car. Other than a taxi (about $80+ and tip each way), anyone know of a shuttle service that perhaps serves area hotels? The conceirge at grand californian are working on trying to find info but thought I'd put the question here too. thanks!

The Los Angeles Angels actually play in Anaheim - maybe seeing an Angels game would work for you.

If you need to see the Dodgers, you could take the train from the Amtrak/Metrolink station, which happens to share the parking lot with Angel Stadium, and then take a taxi from Union Station in L.A. I know the LA City Council has been talking about shuttle service from Union Station to Dodger Stadium, but last I heard that hadn't been implemented.

Do the Metrolink to Union Station and taxi thing. Really, just rent a car. So simple and quick.

If you want to see good baseball in the area go see the Halos. The Angels are the team and put it this way, from the walkways in the stadium you can see The Matterhorn and Space Mountain! Go Angels!

great suggestion to see angels... but husband says they are out of town july 25th. we are only at DL for 2 days before leaving on DCL We are LA challenged... Is there a website showing train info?

Sure is. (Heck I take the Metrolink to work daily)

you're going to want to look at the orange county line, I'm not sure if your going on a weekend or not but the schedules are different.
you're taking the train from the Anaheim station to union station.

Metrolink doesn't run as late as you'll need for the return trip on Friday the 25th, so you'd need to take Amtrak on the rebound anyway. Same stations, just a different schedule: http://www.amtrak.com. Looks like the last train is at 10:10pm, which means you might not catch the full game. Maybe the Saturday game with an earlier start would be better. Hope something works out.

thanks everyone. it's a friday night game so will look at train schedules. Even using trains for half of trip will save some $. Do amtrak and metrolink trains run out of Union Station? The closest we have come to trains is the monorail at disney world in florida. i am guessing that the LA set up is not quite as simple?

You are going to have to just rent a car. It is easy and most car agencies will come pick you up at your hotel and take you to the office. You can rent for one day and just return it in the morning, you can have them drop you off at DLR entrance!

With taxi fares and Amtrack fees you wouldn't really save any money over a one day compact rental. The bottom line is you won't be able to catch the last train unless you leave in the 7th inning and if you have to leave a good game early what is the point?

Rental fee and fuel you can do it for about $40, the taxis and trains may end up being a little more actually.
