Hi!

Does anyone here own a Dodge Durango? Do you like it? How far do you get on the gallon?

I´m thinking of trading my Dodge Grand Caravan in for a Dodge Durango 2004 model and need some insider advice...

Thanks everyone
Freyja

With gas at nearly $3.00/gal? :faint:

I just drove a 2005 Durango for a month as a rental car while my car was in the shop. It was a V8 AWD and got 13 mpg. on the highway driving to LA we got 17 at best.
I would not buy this SUV. too big and kind of generic inside for the price. and the gas mileage
Just my opinion.

I would never ever get a Durango. My mother has one and it has been nothing but a headache since the day she got it.

I would pick somehting else. JMHO.

dont trade you minivan for an SUV if you have any concerns about gas mileage-i dont drive a durango-i have a chevy tahoe-but we also have a chrysler town and country van-it gets better mileage by far than the tahoe-21/27 compared to 13/19-and ive always loved large vehiles. The tahoe has now been officially retired to weekend camping trips and winter trips to wyoming to visit-i just bought an 06 turbo diesel beetle to drive to work-60 miles to the gallon :D

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but how do you like the beetle?? I have been wanting one since they came out but DH says no. I keep trying though!!!!!

My dream car. I have a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan and I was so close to doing the same thing the salesmen could practically taste the money. That was last year and I am the happy to report I did not do it. Not only did I get a talking to from our mechanic regarding the problems Durango have but also like the previous poster said with the gas prices being around $3.00 a gallon where we are I would be broke.

:earseek: No more Disney trips with the Durango sitting in my driveway. :earseek:

My DH bought his a few years ago. He loves his. It does get the 13 mpg. you are getting better gas mileage with your minivan. The steering in his Durango is fantastic! He uses his for work and work only so it is still just like new. He has never had a problem with it and has only had the oil changed in it for maintenance. It is just a matter of enjoying the design and what you intend to use it for, as far as I am concerned, with that size vehicle.

I have a 2004 4.7 L, 4wd, we get around 15 in town and 19-20 highway. Yeah it drinks gas but has all Mercedes Benz supsension, steering etc. I use it to pull my muscle car around to shows and I would recommend one to anyone looking to a large SUV.

Have to say that I love mine too. I don't really pay much attention to mpg, but I don't drive mine alot. DS to and from preschool and the occasional trip to the grocery store. DH drives it in the winter (only when the weather is bad). Have not had any problems with it... knock on wood! I would rather have the SUV over a minivan... but that's my personal preference.

what kind of muscle car....a Mopar...??

We have this as a rental while my DH's Envoy is getting fixed. It is uncomfortable and rattles around, it is a 2004. It is a TRUCK! drives like a truck and etc. Can't wait to get our comfy Envoy back. We will never buy this truck, I would much rather drive around on this :moped:

;)

We bought a new one in 2000 and I loved it!!!!! I hated to sell it but we were moving to Florida and didn't need the 4-wheel drive, heated mirrors and dark color of the Durango. I don't remember the gas mileage but people don't buy large vehicles for the gas mileage.

God Luck in your decision.

Thanks guys! Appreciate the advice and will certainly look carefully into it. Gas is even more expensive here where I live (Iceland). We actually still fell that gas prices in the US are a joke, compared to us. Here, we´re paying $7 a gallon!!!!!!!!!!! :earseek: :earseek: :earseek:
Yup, no misspelling in that. Well, I must be crazy even considering this...
