Dodge asked my school...

they need to get over it and let you guys use the logo you've had it for a long time and just now they're doing something about it? thats ridiculous

they have only had the logo for a year and a half according to the article. :confused3

the exact same thing happened to my school.
we're the owls [yes, lame, i know] and our genius graphics department decided to jack an owl logo that some college uses.
i can't remember the college at this moment, but they are fairly well known.
well, it was this big ordeal that they were gonna try to sue us and we had to send back all of our basketball, baseball, softball, ect. uniforms.
i can see this both ways.
it is stealing their logo, but is it really that big of a deal?
what are we gonna do?
it's not hurting anyone.
i guess it all just depends on how you look at it.

that we had to change our logo because it looked too much like their's.
Seriously, I'm not sure why they care so much, it's not like we're trying to compete with them. They're a car dealership, we're a public high school. People were talking and I heard the track team also had to turn back in all their brand new uniforms because they came in after Dodge asked. So that kind of sucks.

I guess I'll post a link to an article...
http://www.wftv.com/education/22101115/detail.html

what do you guys think?

Ugh. That just seems like they're trying to pick a fight.

How many schools have a Ram like that on their banner? I've seen a few.

Stupid.

Hmm...don't see why dodge is getting their panties in a twist....i wonder how they even would've found out that your school logo is so similar...:confused3
i assume your school mascot is a ram...as is dodge's logo, and yes they are pretty much identical, but it's not like you guys are a competing business, or even a school competing against another school, you're not profiting from the logo, so it seems kind of ridiculous of dodge to make such a big deal over it IMHO

I think they're taking this a tad too far.

And, as it said in the article, they're not even in the same type of business!

I agree with Dodge from a business standpoint. It really won't hurt you guys to design a different ram. There's so many different versions; there's a junior high in my city with rams as their mascot, and it doesn't look anything like Dodge's. So, it's not hard.

They are only asking them to change their logo. Its not like they are suing them for everything the school is worth. Like Sparks was saying early, they are just tying up loose ends in case in the future another car company does the same thing. Then it would affect their business, and if they don't take care of this now they won't have any leverage in the future. They have rights and paid for that design to be copyrighted. That school basically took that design and reversed the color scheme. Maybe if people were a little more creative they could design a logo that is not so blatantly copying a big name brand.

Wow thats an incredible similarity. I defiantly understand dodge's beef with it, even if it seems ridiculous.

But then again its not THAT big of a deal to me considering the only decent thing that came out of Dodge was the SRT4 and Viper GTSR. The SRT10 is just sickening.

So this is what happened apparantly, my cousin is on our school newspaper so she's talked to officials about it...

Our school officials went to the shirt company and told them they wanted a new logo for the athletics dpt. so the shirt company "came up" with the one we have now, which is Dodge's logo. But the shirt company just took something from a bunch of premade logos, like ClipArt. So it is Dodge's logo, but whatever that is was on their database or w/e who knows how long ago. So it's not that my school officials weren't "creative enough" I guess now the problem is with the shirt company. Does that make sense? Lol that's just what my cousin is saying.

I personally think it's just getting ridiculous lol! xD
