Doctor's Dooms at IOA

Has anybody rode this thing? If so, is it OK at my age (healthy as a horse) 40 and DH 42 (diabetes) and our DD9 who is tall enough to ride. I seen a picture and I was like WHOA! How many times does it go up and down?

In the grand shceme of thrill rides, I'm sure this one is not that bad...but I didn't like it all, and I can handle most things -- roller coasters, etc.

I think with this ride, it's mostly the anticipation...you just don't know when you're going to launch...once you get beyond that, it's not too bad...although at the end, none of the employees came to tell you the ride was over, so I was afraid to take off the harness cause I thought we might get launched again.

Rode it once, that was enough for me.

It only goes up once (very fast) and down. I love it. I'm a bit older than you so don't let age stop you.

I'll ride anything but I was a bit taken back due to my intense fear of heights. The initial shot upwards was not bad and the remaining drops and rises are very smooth and fairly slow. It was a decent ride. Didn't bother me nearly as bad as the big shot ride (same as Dr. Doom) on top of the stratosphere tower in Vegas.

One launch is all it takes for Doctor Doom to extract the proper amount of fear from you.

And I will say, no matter where you sit, you'll get a great view.

Oh yeah, you get launched up 150ft at 40mph, then the first drop is over 100 ft. After that, it's a few smaller rebounds, and then a gradual descent down.

I still don't understand the thinking behind the name of this ride. It's called FearFall, and yet the falling part is as tame as can be. It's the launch you gotta watch out for. The launch is practically the entire ride. The whole bouncing up and down thing after that is pointless. I definitely wouldn't recommend this ride for anyone with a fear of heights. The anticipation of that launch will give you grey hairs. It's the most intense non-coaster ride in the park.

"Fear Fall" sounds better than "Fear Shot"

That's my guess to why they named it as so.

I don't know if this ride is a "must do", but I heard that the lines move really really slow. I think we're going to skip it this time . The picture scared me . . I'm a roller coaster fanatic, but I just can't be dropped like that. I'll stick with the Tower of Terror for now. I'll work up the nerve in the future.

I admit...I was petrified about going on this ride! I was shaking and felt sick as I sat down and tried to get comfortable.
Believe me watching the ride is much worse than actually being on it!!! I really enjoyed it..the only bad poits are the slow loading and the fact that it doesnt last long enough. Before I went on this ride, I never thought I would say that I wanted it to last longer!
Go on...give it a go. it looks worse than it really is!
