Hi! Not sure if this is the right place to ask...We will be traveling very soon! I'll be there with three kids. I am hoping that no one gets sick, but in the event they do is there anything like a minute clinic or infirmary at Disney? Thank you!!

There is a nurse in magic kingdom, not sure about the other ones. We had the unfortunate experience of my son getting sick with a very bad virus, temp of 103 in the heat. They called for a van to bring us to a minute clinic, we then found out they didn't take our insurance so we had to take a taxi to the hospital. Hope your little ones don't get sick! It's no fun.

We had almost this exact experience but in EPCOT with our son last year. We brought him to the nurse and she gave us a dose of tylenol. We stayed for an hour but his temperature didn't drop below 100 so they asked us if we wanted to be taken to the clinic. They provided the van to the clinic and back and I *believe* they filled his antibiotic prescription at the clinic. Poor dude has ear infection prone ears.

Oh no! I am glad to hear that there is someone there if not a hospital close by too. Its not easy traveling with kids. And being there without a car, you tend to feel a little stranded. Thank you!

My kids are prone too. I feel like I travel with a pharmacy in my suitcase, but sometimes thats not enough. I am your son was taken good care of too. We are going to be there but not renting a car, so I've been a little nervous about how to manage things like this! Thank you for sharing!!

There are a bunch of urgent care clinic in the area. Your front desk can give you info, and as PPs have said, some even have a van that will pick you up.

I'm not sure the age of your kids, but as an FYI the CVS minute clinic wouldn't treat my son because he was under two years old, so we had to go to a full-up urgent care clinic. Just something to ask about if you do need it.

Thank you! That is very helpful and good to know.

My DS got sick while we were in WDW a few years ago and we used Doctors on Call. They come directly to your resort room and, if you need a prescription, they call it into a pharmacy that delivers to the resort as well. They were great! http://www.doctorsoncallservice.com

My friend had a similar experience when about half of her crew was ill one year. She thought it was a good service at a decent price and didn't require hauling 6 ppl to an urgent care or clinic.

There was another thread on this recently that seems to have a lot of people said the walgreens clinic nearby was really good. Most mentioned almost no wait and not having an appointment. I couldnt' find the link to post it.

There's lots of options and disney will drive you and most likely give you a taxi voucher to get back.

Thank you very much!

I suggest checking your insurance prior to leaving home and print a list of clinics and/or urgent care locations are covered. I know right here in my (relatively small) home town, only 1 of the 2 urgent care clinics is covered by my insurance. Since there are numerous locations in the Orlando area, you'd hate to use one with a sick kid and then find out your insurance won't cover.

Enjoy your vacation!

One trip years ago, both my kids (at different times, of course) became very ill. First my son, had an ear infection (high fever). Then a few days later, my daughter had strep throat (high fever, vomiting, ugh). We were staying at the Dolphin, and the front desk gave us the name of a clinic that comes to the room. It was wonderful. Each time, two doctors came to the room. They brought everything they needed for routine tests, plus had a duffel of many common prescriptions. So the kids were diagnosed, also taught my son how to use the paper coffee cup in the room as a spacer for his inhaler. They got their medicines, and best of all, our insurance, to my surprise, reimbursed me in full, even the extra charge for after midnight call.

The one we used was this: http://www.themedicalconcierge.com/

Yes - the Walgreens clinic right outside of Disney Springs was very good.

DD used the Walgreens outside DS for strep. She went to the urgent care just outside DS and they wanted a $400 deposit, I was on the phone with her and heard all they said. Unbelievable. I told her go to Walgreens, no wait, got checked, had her meds and they went over all in short time ... no down payment and all we owed was $60 or so.

Don't travel anywhere until you call and make sure they take your insurance and what their procedures are. The area is prime for ripoffs with all the tourists. We had an even worse experience with Celebration Hospital. As a guest on property I would seriously consider the on call doctors, they always get great reviews and no travel, wait rooms etc.

My son had a bug bite that kept growing and looking weirder and the nurse at AK strongly recommended we get checked out. We did the doctors on call that come to the room. It was $250 in 2014. Our insurance gave us $100 in reimbursement, so for $150 I felt it was worth them coming to us. Then they called an antibiotic in and that was delivered from a close pharmacy. Insurance didn't cover that at all though....

We ended up at Centra Care in Orange Lake. It was about 10 minutes from the entrance of Disney. We got in and they filled the script right there at the office so no need to go to pharmacy. Took our insurance (BCBS) and we just paid the copay. They cater to vactioneers. Our daughter was under the age of 2 so a minute clinic was a no go.
