Eight weeks after being hospitalized with Guilliam-Barre Syndrome my doctor reluctantly okayed my return to work. It's on a limited basis (no more than 20 hours a week), but nonetheless, at least I was able to return. ::yes::
Not bad considering that my doctors gave me a 6 to 12 month recovery period and my concern that it would be that long before I returned to work! Obviously someone has been carefully watching over me.

I am glad to hear that your recovery is going so well! Be sure to take it easy.

That's great news! Just take it easy and hope that you're back to 100% soon.:sunny:

That is wonderful news!! I am very happy for you and you are indeed blessed you were diagnosed in the early stages. I wish you total recovery and to please take care of yourself.

Last year my good friend (59yo) became very ill while our families were on vacation together. She was admitted to the nearest hospital and actually went into a coma. After a week of tests and ruling things out, she was diagnosed with Gullain-Barre syndome. She underwent 6 plasma tranfusions and by the grace of God came out of her coma after 6 wks., only to face kidney, heart, liver damage. At this point she was flown to Georgetown Univ. Hospital in DC., where specialists are better equipped to deal with her rare medical problem.

It has been a very long difficult 10 mo. journey for her, hubbie and family. She has had to learn to do everything over again...
breath, swallow, eat, talk and rebuild each muscle. After much therapy she has progressed to a walker, but needs much medical care. Unfortunately in her case, the drs. do not anticipate 100% recovery. I would appreciate if everyone would please keep her in their prayers.

Thank you and God Bless ^i^

I hope your recovery continues to go so well!

Take care and don't over do it! :)

I'm glad you are feeling so much better!

I am a neurological ICU RN and we have treated many Gullien-Barre patients over the years. I know how scared and worried you must have been. . God Bless You ...
