Last night at 7:30 I was watching tv and my phone rang. Checked the caller ID and it was my dentists office. Calling to confirm my appointment today. I thought it was a little odd, to be called on Sunday.???

Anyone else have a doc/dentist that does this?

My dentist does this all the time, but they only have my work number, not home or cell phone.

Our dentist usually calls the business day before the appointment. DHMC calls several days before, and it can be weekends or nights. The dentist office has their receptionist call, the doctor's office must hire out their calls to people at home.

Was it like a recording message?

Because my DS Ortho's the call on weekends also but is a recording, and on the caller ID shows Phoenix AZ, and if you call the number back, another machine tells you that they are a doctors/dentist calling services.

I've never gotten one of those calls on a Sunday, only Mon-Fri.
We do like them, though. We are usually called 2-4 days before the appointment

I like the get the reminder calls. Mostly they come as recordings. My dentist called with a reminder for an appointment 2 weeks out because they were closing for the holidays. That probably wasn't very effective. Any more than a day or so doesn't make sense.

My OB uses the recorded ones and yes have gottn on Sunday before...as late as 9pm before too!

We personally call all our patients but only Mon-Thursday. We get complaints that we call top early but if we wait then they arent home and you never know if they will show up or not because even though you ask them to call and confirm they dont. The only time I have ever called anyone on a weekend was right before a hurricane or when I was in on a Saturday doing something else and someones urine culture came up positive and she had to be called to start meds.

Our dentist will call the day before an appointment (will call on Friday if it is a Monday appointment). Our doctor doesn't do reminder calls.

Yes, the receptionist at our office will confirm appointments on Sunday (she takes the numbers home with her). If she didn't we would have a lot of broken appointments on Monday.

Yes thank goodness! My dentist always calls. My OB called sometimes. My ped never called until last and and thank goodness because I didn't even remember making the appt.

Since they're going to charge you if you don't show up, a reminder seems appropriate.

We don't charge until a person has had *3* no shows. Someone who just doesn't show up has wasted anywhere from 30-minutes to one hour of the staff's time. Yeah, things come up but habitual no shows.....deserve to be charged.

I love the computer generated reminder calls! My son's orthodontist does those. Our dentist's receptionist calls. She doesn't do it on weekends.

My doctor and gyn both give reminder calls. I don't know if they would call on a Sunday because I have never made an appointment for a Monday. I do like the calls though. I never seem to remember that I have an appointment no matter how many of those little cards they give me.

My mothers friend is the receptionist at the gyn's office. So I get a few personal reminders the week before. She'll even call me from her house to remind me. It's nice having her work there though, she gives me all of the hidden Cosmo's to read instead of the parenting magazines.
