My 5 year old son informed his Father and me today that he wanted Santa to bring him Zip Zaps for Christmas! This is supposedly the "hot toy" for boys for Christmas and can only be found at Radio Shack! So, I ventured over to our local store and asked my friend Patty about them, to which she said, "Oh, we are sold out!"...Naturally, but thank goodness I am good friends with her because she said once she gets some more in, she would save me two of them! :):)

Does anyone else have kids that wanted these?? I never even heard of them until today...LOL

I had never heard of Zip Zaps before tonight either, LOL. Guess I'm a little behind on kid's toys. ;) I just did a quick search on them and they do look pretty neat though!

:)

DS, 7yo, hasn't asked for anything for Christmas.
We even went to Toys R Us for our annual excursion
and he had a hard time picking stuff. So, he settled
on "suprises". Zip Zaps look excellent and I'm going
to stalk Radio Shak until I can get one!
Thanks.

They are sold out on-line. :(
If anyone finds that they get them back in on-line, please PM me!! Please! Thank you!

Ok, what exactly are they? Miniature remote control cars? What's the big deal? sorry, I never heard of them before this:confused:

After trying for weeks to get one from Radio Shack, I ended up buying a very similiar item(called the z-car) from the Discovery store online. I believe they are the same price and look like the same item!

Target has a very similiar radio control mini-car that is only $9.99. Comes in 5 different colors and models.

They are different because they are the size of a Hot Wheel. I suppose dh's dream of making your hot wheel move on its own power.:D

The difference with ZipZaps from the knock-offs, is that there are kits available (inexpensive) to change body-styles and performances. They are cool, both my kids are getting them for Christmas :)

I bought similar ones at a kiosk at the mall.......I don't want to have to buy the "upgrade"kits.

My friend and I bought 12 between us!! Buy 5 get 1 free. They had about 12 different styles.
My DH, DD, DS and DD's friend are getting them...........I also got rechargable batteries to go with them ;)

My DS-5, saw them on tv yesterday and I had no idea what they were.
Thanks for posting this...just went to the online store, and they are sold out. I guess I will be going up to the radio shack store shortly to see if they have any.

Thanks for the post!

I bought one for me about a month ago. It was the last one they had at Radio Shack. I wanted it to play with the cats with. One likes it the other ignores it.

We have had trouble with it not running half the time. Just a warning. They are very delicate and somewhat hard to assemble for a nurse and an engineer. You have to have the tiny parts just exactly alligned.

My husband has seen these as well and I am thinking now that he wants one more than my son!! LOL I took him to Radio Shack with me yesterday and he was like, 'Okay, we need the track, the tool kit, the upgrades...." :p ;)

Yep, my 4 boys want one. I hope I can get some. They are going really fast.

We gave one to James for his birthday (yesterday). Sarah informed us that she wants one too. Her birthday is in two weeks. Fortunately, I happened to be in a Radio Shack when they got a delivery of 12 cars. I thought about buying them all, but decided that I have been burned once too often purchasing items for later resale, so I got one for James and one for me (that I guess is now going to be Sarah's).

At $20 each, they are a real bargain. If you can find one. I hope that Santa gets his elves busy making more of these things.
