homework assignments to do on Fridays/weekend?

Both of my boys (one is in 5th grade and the other in 1st) have homework to do over the weekend. It's not work that wasn't finished in class. Is this a new trend? This is the first year that this has happened.

Not daily homework but it seems there is always some ongoing project (book report, etc.) that needs to be worked on over the weekend. DD is in 4th grade.

Yes, DS (sophmore in HS) Hours of it...every weekend. He's been getting homework on the weekend since Third grade.

I guess my boys are going to have to get used to it.;)

Yes, both ds (freshman) and dd (5th grade) have homework on the weekend. DD has mandatory math and reading everynight--which doesn't include any other subjects during the week or other projects and studying for tests.

Our DD brought home math homework today. She's finished with it all ready, but I can bet you that we will get a phone call Sunday night from more than one of her friends wanting help.

I never assign homework on weekends. It's a no-win situation, as way too many students won't have it completed.

My DD has always had weekend homework. The only time that she did not have homework was when she was in Christian Elementary School and they did not give homework on Wednesday nights as they assumed that most families were in church.

I am a junior in high school, so of course I have homework on weekends. I always have to do something for each class, so I spend at least several hours on homework each weekend, often more. My family takes weekend vacations several times a year, and during the school year I usually have to stay home and do homework.

My dd who is in 3rd grade came home today with homework for the weekend. It's the first time since she started school. I guess they never get a break from school.

My son has never had weekend homework with the exception of a special project or like today some of the class went on a field trip and they had to make up the classwork they missed. He is in the third grade.
