Do your kids bathe/shower at night, in am, or both?

Just curious. I remember finding out in college for the first time that other people have different habits than I do. DD needs a shower to wake her up. So, depending on what she has done that day, she may not get a bath at night (only brushing of teeth). I'm thinking of paying a babysitter for the first time and now I'm concerned about the sitter having the responsibility of making sure DD bathes (but I also don't want to be the talk of the neighborhood if it seems strange that DD doesn't get a nightly bath). Anyway, what are your norms?

As babies I bathed them at night- a nice warm soothing bath. Now dd usually showers at night and my ds (7) takes a bath whenever I can wrestle him into the tub.

DD usually gets a bath at night but depending on what she's done that day it might not even be every night. She's only 4 so body odor isn't yet a factor. On the days she goes to pre-k and she's outside then she'll get a bath as soon as we get home. I don't even want her sitting on anything covered in sunscreen, sand, dirt etc. If it's a rainy day or she otherwise isn't outside much then she'll skip a bath that day. In the winter she gets a bath about 3 times a week. Of course hands and face get washed all the time but the rest of her just doesn't get dirty unless she's playing outside.

My kids shower at night, unless it's been a really hot night, then they might shower in the morning as well

Since by the end of the day my kids are usually covered in dirt and sweat after playing outside, they definitely need a bath/shower at night.

DS 6 usually showers or takes a bath at night...he's currently REALLY into a new tea tree sugar scrub body cleanser that I bought for MYSELF  ANd now he'd take a shower every hour if I let him...This stuff is $20 a jar and it's almost gone after 2 weeks....I'm going to have to hide it.........Pre-body scrub he probably took a bath 6 days a week. When school starts I might try to get him to take at least a quick shower in the am too...

My 4 1/2 year old showers in the evening, not every evening but she never showers in the morning...its enough waking her up for school without having to add more time on the shower. And since she showers by herself evenings is a better choice, she's awake and I don't have to worry about her being sleepy in there!

bathe/shower? Are kids supposed to bathe? I'll have to
tell my DS, age 9!!! LOL!

My thoughts, exactly.

The OP forgot to list "neither" as an option. ;)

My kids are very stinky apparently! Because of my kids skin, I was told to only bathe them about twice a week as babies and toddlers. I spot washed daily as needed, but listened to the doc otherwise.

My nine year old still showers only a couple of times a week. My older child decided to bathe daily, starting at about age 10, and showers every morning.

I usually just hose my kids down in the driveway once a week, whether they need it or not.

That works, and swimming most certainly counts as bathing!

Bathing every day can most certainly cause overly dry skin in children, especially young children.

For my children, it really depends on the age of the child and the season. In winter they really don't sweat as much and do activities that get them either stinky or dirty (except for my 10yo basketball player). My 10yo plays baseball in spring, summer, and fall, and must shower before bed on days he plays ball. Very often on school days he also showers in the morning, too, because he wants his hair "just so". When the kids hit puberty they are *supposed* to shower every day. My teenage daughter does this without a problem, but I still have to remind my 13yo son--he just doesn't seem to get it. My 4yo showers a couple of times a week in winter and probably 3 times a week in summer. If I start to smell him before he comes in the room I know it's time for a shower and bath. :teeth:

I always gave my dd her bath at night during the school year and during the summer it would vary (stinky kid coming in from playing outside needs a bath right then, lol). She didn't get a bath every day though, if she was inside all day and didn't really play much then we would skip it.
When Ashli hit middle school she started taking a shower every morning before school instead of the night before. This summer she started working at a kennel so she showers THE MINUTE she walks in the door after work too, lol.
