I have 3 friends who "get" the Disney experience and obsessively plan and go as often as they can. They use Disboards, ets. Everyone else I know thinks I'm nuts, lol. They think it doesn't sound like me. When I was with my BF, we took trips to art museums and big cities, more cultured stuff. He definitely didn't get the Disney Magic. He took his kids to Disney land and they only went for 1 day and were bored!

I can't put my finger on why exactly I've drunk the kool aid but I'm sure glad I did. And so is DD!

Yes, some do. I know my sister and parents don't get it. Recently a girl at work said "oh, you are one of THOSE people, explain this to me". First, I don't owe her an explanation and I am pretty sure it is not worth my energy. I just replied "and you are one of THOSE people!". That pretty much ended the conversation. I like to think that I believe in magic and she doesn't. Too bad for her! Love and pixie dust to all! pixiedust:

Yes, most people think we are nuts too (our love of Disney is just ONE reason:lmao:). I only have a couple of family members who 'get' it. None of our friends do. They all took their kids to WDW when they were like 5 & 3yo and they think there is no reason to go back. Oh well, more room in the parks for us :thumbsup2

I'm always amazed when I read some of the threads about how busy the parks are and someone will comment that they "know five families going to Disney over Spring Break" or whatever. We never know anyone going other than a couple of family members who love it as much as us.

I wouldn't say they think we are crazy, because we do vacation other places. But they know anything Disney we are the ones to go. Actually most of them just want to tag along our trips. Sometimes that is good and sometimes not so much. I would say DH family don't get it maybe because we rather go to WDW than to go see them :rotfl2:. Sometimes people think we like everything Disney meaning if they see a plastic mickey they buy it for us. I mean yeah I love Disney, but what am I supposed to do with junk? Sometimes are nice thoughtful things that I do appreciate.

ABSOLUTELY. and what's worse is when they see the price of the tickets and the increases .. they then think we're really nuts.

I rarely talk about it to my friends. If I do, I keep it very low key. I don't want them to rain on my parade. We did however, invite one of my son's friends with us last fall. Ended up having his whole family come and stay with us ( in our DVC). Now, his friends mom (who is a good friend of mine - even more now since our trip together) is totally in LOVE with Disney and is saving up for their
own vacation December 2015.

Actually I must be pretty lucky. My friends all have their "go to" places. My sister will give up breathing before giving up her Vegas trip. My boss goes to Jamaica with his family every June. I love wdw but Paris is my second love also. I think everyone has their vices

So really no one blinks an eye when I say I'm going back to wdw.

I don't really talk about to my friends or coworkers because they just don't get it.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

and i like other parts of the world too. Have been around europe a few times now. But at this point, I want to stay in the USA and spend my money here. Especially in Florida. Just NOT THIS much. :confused3

I quit telling people I was going. I generally don't talk about it at all anymore unless someone else brings it up. I get all my Disney "talk" here and on Twitter lol.

The general criticism I receive is that I should go someplace else or spend my money some other way. :confused3 I love Disney and have no problem spending my money to go there.

Everyone knows I am crazy :rotfl2:

A co-worker said something one time when I said DH was proposing a 4th trip. Something about think you'd want to go someplace else for a change. We are about to go on a 6th, (7th if you count Disneyland) and she has accepted it. She went once many years ago and now is saying it would be nice to go again.

It seems almost no one around here goes. The funeral director's family went once. DD12's friend has gone once or twice. Other than that I never hear of anyone going. Well, someone at church asked me where they should stay when they go in a few years, since they have 4 kids.

If I want to explain, I tell people that since DH drives for a living, he likes to go somewhere where we can do a ton of things without driving all week.
