Like Mystery Machine, I also will soak the split in peroxide before applying cream. It cleans out the infection and seems to be the only way to ease the pain.

After that, I put on gobs of lotion. I have lotion everywhere (even next to the computer), so I don't forget to apply it.

Trust me when I say I can relate. Working in OR and Recovery Rooms can be bruital on your hands.

Neutrogenia Norwegian Formula is really great. The trick is to use regular lotion throughout the day but at night, put a triple sized glob on your hand and rub, rub, rub for several minutes until it is rubbed into your skin. I will still feel just a tiny bit tacky but that disappears quickly. It gives your hands an intense treatment all night and if you do this each night, you should find that you don't get the cracks anymore.

When I am rubbing it in I put extra on those problem areas.

They used to make a lotion that did not wash off each time you used it. Can't find it anymore.
