Do you write reviews?

I don't, I should but I don't. I LOVE reading reviews though so thanks to everyone who does! I read reviews for anything from Amazon purchases, books, hotels, any travel basically, clothing stores, local services such as vets, automotive, restaurants, dentists... so I really appreciate all the folks who give their honest opinions.

I am a review fanatic, and will write ones for both sides (good & bad). I have a few hundred up on Trip Advisor, although that place can be sketchy. It didn't seem to be overly bad years back, but the one thing I have learned is to never go by the 5-stars. The best bet to get honest reviews are the ones rated 3 & 4.

Amazon is really suspect though. So many of the reviews are "paid". I have bought several items only to get a card with it that said they would give me 25 bucks (or whatever), if I would leave a great review. So the trick is (like Trip Advisor) to NEVER go by the perfect reviews either.

When I buy something on Amazon that isn't just a household cleaning product I usually do. I often gets emails 'reminding' me to evaluate those kitchen sponges I recently purchased and just ignore that. Never done any reviews on Tripadvisor since there are already hundreds on each location. Saying I liked/didn't like something that repeats what 20 others have already said is a waste of my time. Too many read like the person is somehow trying to outdo the prior poster with how bad their experience was. I just laugh about those and never decide where to travel based on trip reviews from strangers.

Have never been offered any financial incentive to leave a review, would never do one if offered and think that is a shady way to operate.

Rarely. I work in an industry that is subject to on-line reviews and the constant threat by customers to try and manipulate us by social media. I’ve come to despise the whole concept and other than “influence” they are pointless at having any effect on the a company's practices. We never respond to them publicly and delete the ones that are blatant lies from our platforms. We use a reputable 3rd-party survey company to collect real feedback from our customers.

I love reading reviews, primarily for entertainment.

So many times on Trip Advisor I will find a review detailing a horrible experience. Then find another review from the exact same day talking about how great a time was had. I don't think either is a paid review but just two different people who had totally different experiences on the same day. Could be because of different expectations, could be that being there an hour earlier or later really made all the difference, etc.

The end result is that I don't put any credence in a single review. You have to look at the trend for the time period you plan to visit.

I do write reviews, but not often. They are always glowing or scathing reviews. Very rarely have I done an average review. Most of my reviews are on Amazon, Macy's, Trip Advisor.

I have done a fabulous and then negative review for the same place! They were 2 years apart and it was so poor the last visit that I had to amend my recommendation. It was for a WDW restaurant on TripAdvisor. Any guesses which restaurant?

I wrote 2 once on Facebook. One was for a gas station who was trying to charge us a fee for buying gas cards for gifts.
The other was for a pick up order from Texas Roadhouse.

I've done some reviews, usually on Amazon when a seller offers some incentive for a review. On rare occasion I wrote some just for yucks and giggles, because I am, and often times will be, a silly goose.

I also review Crocs and Nickelback repeatedly on this board. This may come as a surprise to many of you, but I am NOT a fan of either one.

I used to, but I have review fatigue. It seems like every single website I go to wants some sort of feedback even if I don’t end up buying anything.

The only reviews I do these days is when I have someone out to work on the house. I know how difficult it can be to make a decision when it comes to home repairs and services, so I try to be diligent about leaving reviews, both good and bad, to help make the decision easier for others.

Never use Yelp and would never post reviews there. That sketchy way they try to shake-down businesses to pay a 'fee' to move/hide bad reviews means the reviews you see are worthless. Would never use a site where they purposely manipulate the reviews.

I’ve written hundreds of reviews on TripAdvisor, just trying to pay it forward. I’ve thought about doing Amazon reviews but have just never started. Maybe someday.

I always read reviews. For everything I buy, to where I eat, and where I go. So appreciate the people who take the time to write reviews. I sometimes do. I've written both good and bad reviews. I read what another poster said about Amazon, about it being sketchy. I've heard that too.
