A co-worker states she doesn't wear white shoes after Labor Day. I told her I would, that you don't have to go by the old rules anymore.

So, do you wear white slacks/shoes after Labor Day????

TC:cool1:

I do if the weather is still very summer like but not after Sept.30th in New England. On vacation, in warmer climates? Sure.

Well, that really depends on the occasion and the crowd. New York city? Yes! LA? Yes! Orlando? Yes! Lincoln, Nebraska? Maybe not so much.

Luncheon with grandma's friends or a law office? No way! Tech office or lunch with girlfriends? Yes!

I don't wear white slacks or white shoes any time of the year. Just not my style.

sure, why not. I dont pay attention to those "rules"

Of course if its muddy and gross outside I wouldnt but just because another day has passed on the calendar doesnt stop me from wearing something.

White shoes? Besides athletic shoes? Ack, no never wear them. White shoes remind me of two things...nurses and strippers.

As for white pants, white sweaters, etc. I will wear those any time of year.

Only if it's my sneakers. I don't own a pair of white pants...or is this question only for the ladies?

Only as it applies to shoes, I do have some keds I'll wear or tennis shoes, but as a general rule, no white after Labor Day. I know, barbaric, but my mother took it very seriously, and I just can't seem to break the cycle. I guess it's all in how it's ingrained in us. ;)

I have bent the rules somewhat (since moving to Florida) and wear white shorts/pants/sandals until Oct 1st. I don't own any white "shoes" other than flip flops or sandals.

After Oct 1st, I only wear my dark or khaki shorts; no more pastels or brights. Most women I know will start wearing white/pastels again in late April/early May.

But I've never seen anyone but tourists or medical personel wearing pure white (other than a blouse/shirt/top) in the winter months.

Believe it or not, those of us who live here year round get tired of wearing summer clothes all the time. That's why you'll sometimes see Floridians wearing tweed on a 70 degree day.

I don't think I own white shoes other than athletic style shoes. I really do not like them at all! I might have some flip flops I can wear that would might have some white on them, but after a point it is too cold for them anyway ;) Any other white shoe (sandals, heels, etc) I'd never own in the first pace.

I will wear white tops any time of year. White pants are also another item I just do NOT own. Same with skirts and shorts. It's just something I never considered a good idea to won ;)

Ditto! ITA!

I could have said that exact thing (except for the flip flops part since I can't wear them thanks to my high arches).

I can so relate. When we lived in Florida, I was the same way. 60 degrees? It's sweater time! I missed all my winter clothes.

I don't wear any white shoes, except athletic. I only have one white skort and I would wear it after labor day if it was hot enough. It's kind of short so I don't wear it very often. Oh I do have a skirt that I rarely wear, but I'm planning on wearing it on my Caribbean cruise in November.

Winter white is a huge trend this fall. I love white wool pants with a luxurious looking sweater and I'll wear white shoes in the winter too if they are just the right style.

I absolutly wear my white shorts, and capris after Labor Day ::yes:: I don't have many white shoes, but if I needed to wear what I have, than I would :)

Strippers wear white shoes? Why am I getting the image of pasties and some Princess Reeboks?

I do not own white pants or shoes, but I will not carry a white handbag after Labor Day. I also do not wear red to weddings. Each of those carries a long embarrassing reason as to why which I can sum up as: ignorant Northern transplanted to the South.

I've had it so ingrained in me that you don't wear white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day that I cannot bring myself to do it!

I would love to wear winter white (which has a bit of cream in it) during the winter, but the ground gets so yukky with dirty slush here that they'd be chocolate brown in an instant!
