Do you watch TV with closed caption?

My parents went back and watched all three Lord of the Rings movies with closed captioning so they could be more clear on all the complicated names! I thought that was a pretty good idea. I might try that. :goodvibes

Only when I can't figure out how to turn it off.
:confused3

I am so addicted to captions, that I have a hard time watching TV without them. I actually get annoyed when I start watching a show and I realize it doesn't have CC. Luckily DH feels the same (he only turns it off to watch sports). When we stay at hotels, I have to turn on the CC!

What's funny is when you're watching a movie that's been edited for TV, but the CC still shows the "bad" words. :teeth:

That happened to us at TGIF. The TVs were on mute and had CC on. No biggie... right??? Wrong!!! Saving Private Ryan was playing at the time! Not only did the F-bombs and S-bombs show up on CC, but it was the scene where they first storm the beach! Ummm... here we are at TGIFridays, going to eat our meal, and people are getting decapitated and mangled on TV. Yeah... that went over well! :rotfl:

I love it. I'm not alone!!

Yes, I have to have the CC on. I am so used to it that I cannot watch t.v. or a movie without it anymore.

My DH doesn't mind it except when I read faster than the actors speak and I'll laugh at the joke before it's been said! :rotfl2: My DH gets mad and says "hey, you have to wait for it!" :rotfl:

I love cc. If I watch a movie while exercising on a treadmill, I can't hear the words....but I can read them. I also find that with CC I understand the story better.

Yep I have to have closed captioning on to watch TV now. After 2 kids and years of working around loud noise I have compromised hearing!

LOL! I do the same thing. I always start laughing before the punchline because I've already read it!

Anyone else think CC is effecting their hearing? I swear, even if I'm in a totally quiet room (which is a rare occurrence) I can't hear what is being said on TV anymore unless I have them on. :rotfl2:

Maybe it's a self-fulfilling prophecy: using captions for the hearing impaired has impaired my hearing. :confused3 :teeth:

I have my cc set to go on when the tv is on mute. I accidently hit mute today and my 7 yr. old started reading the cc instantly so I have cc on for now until he loses interest in reading it. I think it will be a great help for his reading. I must agree it does distrat me though!

I've done it to figure out names on movies like LOTR and for shows like Lost, just to keep from missing things. It also comes in handy for music videos when trying to learn the words for karaoke
