Do you use Wii Fit with the regular Wii?

Sorry if this sounds silly, but I can't find an answer anywhere. Do you use Wii Fit with the original console or are these two separate units? (i.e. is Wii Fit really just the software and the balance board and you add it to the Wii console or is there a special console for the Wii too?)

The Wii is one unit and the Wii Fit Board works with the Wii. You can use the Wii alone but in order to use the Wii Fit board you need a Wii it can't be used by itself. Is that what you mean? The Wii Fit Board is kind of like adding another controller only you stand on it.

If I'm understanding you correctly: yes you use the same console. Like Wenrob said the board is just another type of controller.

Yes - I guess what I am asking is if Wii and Wii Fit are mutually exclusive. That is, if you get Wii Fit, can still play "regular" games (such as bowling or boxing or whatever) using the same Wii console (just different controllers). Or, would you need to get the Wii and another separate console that is used only with Wii Fit?

The bolded is correct. Just think of Wii Fit as another game, and the board as its controller. You switch out the CDs and controllers just like for any other game.


(But you can't do anything with JUST a Wii Fit, if you don't have a Wii).
