I never knew of this feature. Now that I know about it there is a certain someone I am going to put on ignore. It isn't anyone who posted in this thread. In fact, it is someone who always has to have the last word. The poster feels they are always 100% correct and rejects others thoughts and opinions - can you guess who I am talking about? I wont say the posters name in here because I dont feel it is necessary; however, I am sure I am not the first to put this person on ignore.

There are a few people like that (2 of whom are the ones on my ignore list). I will name none, though, because that would be worse behavior than the annoying behavior that I am speaking of.

The sad thing about "last word/never wrong" people is that I think that they believe they come across as brilliant or authoritative in some way, and that they perhaps think we are all in awe of their debating skills, career, supposed intellect, lifestyle, etc. . They seem incapable of admitting that anyone who disagrees with them might be right afterall, or that those people are at least worthy of respect even if they don't see eye-to-eye with them. They seem to be completely unaware of how obnoxious and unlikable they are to so many posters. My guess is that in real life the people I am speaking of are just as socially awkward as they are on the DIS. We have all met people like that in real life.

And just to make it clear, I am NOT talking about everyone who likes the debate-type threads. Most of those people are great, and at least try to see things from the perspective of people on the "other" side. I am only annoyed by a few, and that is only because of their attitudes.

It is just a personality type, I guess. Much like those few perpetual dramatic attention-seeking posters. I can put up with attention-seekers, though, because they usually aren't rude and are somewhat easy for me to ignore on my own.

And I'm not ignoring anyone on this thread, either. At least no one who is here so far .

I don't use it. Given the number of quotes used around here it would rarely keep me from seeing post by those I would put on there anyway.

The thing that always gets me in these threads is the people posting about the behavoir of others when it's likely the person they are ignoring thinks the same about them.

I don't use the ignore feature, but I think someone put me on their ignore list once(I may still be on it). I said something I shouldn't have and later saw this person asking how to use the ignore feature. I know I shouldn't have posted the way I did, so I felt bad about it. Oh well...I'm good at opening my mouth and THINKING later.

I've never used the feature. Like others, I'm too nosey and don't want to miss anything.
