Do you use an off brand meter to test blood sugar?

And for anyone reading who doesn't know what Zurgswife is talking about, diabetes test strips, the lifeline we all use to treat diabetes, are allowed by the FDA to be as much as 20% off. It's ridiculous how inaccurate they're allowed to be. We give insulin based off what these strips tell us, insulin that could kill a person. And yet the FDA is ok with these standards.

There's also a petition to sign to get the FDA to have a patient meeting for Diabetes. They have a bunch of other patient meetings scheduled for other diseases, to get a better understanding of the disease, yet with 26 million people with diabetes in the country, they haven't put diabetes on their agenda. We think that's outrageous. Sign the petition, even if you don't have a dog in this fight right now. Chances are, at some point in your life, someone you know will develop type 1 or type 2 diabetes. http://www.stripsafely.com/petition_fda/

Thanks for posting this, my husband and his brother are both type 1's. So, I definitly signed this petition and I'll be posting it on my FB page and asking my hubby to sign as well.
