do you use all the features of your equipment

i am such a creature of habit i tend to forget about the features i have that i don't use often ( ie my tripod has a center column i can use for macro, totally forget i can use it horizontally when the need arises). wondering how i can remind myself (short of sticky notes all over my equipment). any ideas or does everyone neglect to use it all

I know I dont use all the features of my D300. I took an online course last month to learn some of the things it does. I am sure I still dont know half of the things its capable of but here is a shot from one of the assignments to produce a multiple exposure. Its some canoes on the racks at our local park, five exposures on the same frame.
