Do you use a TracFone?

either of these phones available at Tracfone.. not sure which one to get for DD.

The Tracfone website is currently listing newer camera/mobile web models now. They are now calling web capable phones "Mobile web."

The LG420g

The LG420g has a review here:

It's a GSM cellphone. AT&T or T-Mobile would be the base carrier (through Tracfone) for this phone.

The other camera/mobile web phone listed is the LG 231C

It's a Verizon based Tracfone. I couldn't find any reviews on it.

It's really depends on which cell phone carrier normally works best in your area.

When you buy minutes, do they expire? That's my only issue. I use a cell phone very very rarely. 120 minutes would last me forever.
Look into Page Plus Cellular. It had the longest period between needing to buy more minutes than any PAYG phone service.

Had one.. My Dson-in-law insisted I have "something" when I insisted he take back the phone that he insisted that I have on their family plan.. I had it for over a year and I think I used it once - for the activation process..:rotfl:

I really don't want or need a cell phone, so unbeknownst to my Dson-in-law, it's in my dresser somewhere back at their house..:rotfl:

My cousin had/has one - nothing fancy (no texting or anything) - and she really likes it.. She finds she can get service where a lot of the major cell phones don't work..

is there anyway to find out? Although we're in a populated area and have had about 5 tracfones and never had a problem..

Be careful when you read the descriptions of the phones. Always look at what it says it will do on the Tracfone site, because Tracfone disables some features sometimes. So, while that model might be capable of doing things in general, the Tracfone version will not, and you do need a phone from them in order to use their service.

I think with the T-Mobile prepaid service you get a better value for your money.

It depends on what your needs are. I text maybe once a month, and talk maybe 30 minutes a month tops. It's far cheaper for me to have a tracfone than t-mobile.

If you are texting all the time and calling a lot, I'd agree that tracfone might not be the best option.

I'm sorry. I'm confused. Is there any way to find out what? Which service is better for your area? Or that tracfone has the models listed? Or that they have the features?

The two phones I mentioned in my last post BOTH say they are camera phones, have the Bluetooth so you can download pictures to your computer (if you have Bluetooth,) and have Mobile Web ability. The one review I could fine even said they tested that it does all I said. They are also the exact same descriptions of my own Tracfone.

If the models are on the Tracfone website, you can currently order them. You can also do a Google search by model number. I found other places like Kmart, had my same phone model a while back, that could be ordered online. Only Tracfone are these particular models numbers. The manufacturers add an extra letter like LG 420g (above) to differentiate their phones dedicated to Tracfone. If you buy fro Kmart, Walmart, Amazon, etc, they all should say the cell phones with these model numbers are Tracfones.

I had to add on new minutes the other night and had a problem so I had to call the dreaded Customer Service. The rep went through her spiel and at the end said, "If you have a Mobile Web access phone, it may take an hour or more to activate." So, I guess many of the newer models are having it as a standard feature now. :thumbsup2

As for which service provider is better for your area, you have to ask people who have those services. Tracfone doesn't change AT&T's or Verizon's existing service, it just rents service from the major carriers. If AT&T is normally lousy in your area for customers who have a cell phone service directly from them, it's going to be exactly the same.

You mentioned you have had 5 Tracfones already with no problems. Did they have SIM cards? You take out the battery and underneath is a little white cardboard card. Those are SIM cards.

If so, the LG 420g and the LG 600G will work fine for you. Both of those are the GSM / SIM card phones. :) Most of the phones on the Tracfone site are the GSM / SIM card phones. ALL phones at Walmart are GSM / SIM card phones. :goodvibes
