Do you use a fanny/waist pack?

Hello everyone. Just wondering if anyone used a fanny pack when at DL. I know they're not the most attractive things ( I haven't owned one since I was about 10 years old) but we're going to DL soon and I definitely don't want to bring a purse (I have 2 young ones so I'm already gonna have a lot of stuff to bring with us) so I'm just looking for a safe place to keep all our valuables (cash, credit card, tickets). What stores would sell them? It's been so long since I've looked! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I've been looking ALL over for kids sized fanny backs so that this year the kids can carry some of their own stuff! Let me know if you have any luck!
BTW- we're going to be at DL the same time! I'll be there OCt2-6th....

I don't use anything that makes my butt look bigger. :rotfl:

Why not get a small size purse backpack - a small will keep the contents limited so it will be light - it will keep your hands free to hold your little ones - and if you look for one with an inside zip for your wallet - it will be safe from unwanted hands

we usually have a backpack that has all of our stuff inside... credit cards, room keys, snacks, bottled water, jackets (all that sort of stuff) ... and now since the youngest member of our family is 10, we will all bring a little backpack and store whatever we want in our own! we find that this works very well for us! :) if you have younger kids however, it might be better to just have 1 backpack and pack your stuff in there! if you have a stroller, you can also put all your stuff in a bag in the stroller when your child isnt in it! :)

I bought an over the shoulder, mini waterproof backpack which holds my digi & Video cam, and a few basic necessities "cash, passport etc". Im not keen on lugging anything around, but a small backpack with light items in it seems decent.

I use a fanny pack whenever I go. Its so much easier than carrying a purse or backpack. We don't usually carry around alot of stuff, just a small digital camera, money etc. It has a stretchable mesh bag that I can put a soda or wattle bottle in.

I got it a few years ago at Walmart - I think its an eastsport pack.

I did get my daughter a youth fanny pack last year from WDW..I bought it from the 800 merchandise number and had them mail it to me. I think it was about 9 or 10 dollars.

You might try looking on ebags and search under waist pack...also mousesavers has a 15% discount that you could use as well here.

Try doing a search on the WDW board - they had a thread a while back about kids' fanny packs.

Okay, my second post. I alternate between a small backpack and a small crochet purse that has a long strap (goes across my body). I have used fanny packs before (and probably will again), but they're just not flattering on someone with "tummy issues." The small purse (with long strap across the body) works great - I hardly notice it's there.

I go to a backpack when the weather is changeable - then I can bring something light to put on, like a denim shirt, if I go into cold air conditioning.

Fanny packs are considered hopelessly out of fashion at DLR, FWIW. Since I do not care about fashion very much, I always wear a fanny pack/water botter holder. I love to stick my camera in there, cell phone, snacks, band-aids, sunscreen, etc.

Tooo Funny! Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions. I thought about a small backpack sort of thing but any kind of straps really bother me. So, a fanny pack it is, no matter how out of style. I guess I'll go check out walmart or ebags.

I like to use a fanny pack for things I get out often, like money/credit card, chapstick, camera, etc. Having to take off a backpack, put it down, open it up just to get out my camera is a pain to me. I have a mesh backpack (from WalMart), it weighs nothing, that I use to carry purchases, sweater (if needed), snacks and that kind of stuff.

Fortunately I'm at a place in my life that convenience and comfort overrule fashion. :cool1:

I can't get past the fashion thing either! So it is a backpack type purse....but most often just pockets! I usually wear a light vest.I have actaully thought about buying a "safari" type vest, since i can't find fashionable womens cargo shorts.

definitely - i have a Disney 'front' pack and it holds keys/credit cards/cell phone/camera & $$ - oh and some lip gloss too. was just there last wkend - great trip!! great weather!! and the lines weren't too long either :-)

I backpack all my goods cuz I usually bring in sodas and snacks. I usually see plenty of fanny packs at my local thrift store, if you're still having trouble try thrift stores.

I saw some fanny packs at Target. I love mine and used it all summer. I still haven't switched back to my purse so I look like a geek but I am an organized hands free geek! :cool1:

I wear a fanny (front) pack ONLY when I visit Disneyland and Disneyworld. I get too hot with a back pack, and I am not supposed to lug anything heavy all day long over one shoulder so the fanny pack works for me. I do not wear them anywhere else. I use a back pack on field trips. :wave2:

:thumbsup2 Why yes we do! We have two of them that we got at Disneyland. One has fireworks that light up! :) DH and I will trade off on wearing it. Although a small backpack sounds good too. I'm usually weary of someone taking something out of the back of it, so that's why we usually do the fanny pack. Although it's not the most attractive thing, we'll take it off and put it behind our back for pictures!

invest in an over the body pouch sold around the resort. It is black with the spiffy gold ears logo on it. It has several pockets and compartments. I was able to carry a bottle of water, snacks, autograph book, sharpie, camera, cell phone, sunglasses and money in it. I never felt like it would fall off. Cost=$24, and well worth it! A fun, practical souvenir.
