I just saw an article on the Comcast homepage about something similar to this and wanted to see how the DIS community is in regards to their phone use.

Do you have/use just a cell phone or a landline phone or both?

I just use a cell phone.

We primarily use our landline. DH & I carry cellphones but they are more for emergency use.

We have a landline for no reason whatsoever. We never use it; we don't answer it. We only use our cell phones.

We have to have a landline since cell phone reception is sometimes poor in our area. We even have a mini tower antenna thing that helps with the cell phone reception. Without it I can't use the cell phone from home at all.

This is us exactly.

Except in the complex where we live, we need the landline to open the gate for the Pizza Hit guy.

I use landline almost 100% of the time. I have a cell phone, but hate carrying it and only use it when I have to. I just don't need (or want) to be that accessible anymore.

We each have a cell that we mainly use but we also have a Voip line that is free to us with DH's employee package. And the voip is grandfathered so if we get rid of it we can't get it back for free. (The company no longer offers it.)

Interesting situation I find myself in here at DD's this year.. I'm not a cell phone fan at all (at one point my Dson-in-law insisted I have one - put me on their family plan - and in 2 years I "might" have used it 5 times - when I was in Florida).. It was ridiculous for him to be paying for me, so when it came time to renew I told him to take me off.. He said not unless I got something else.. So - to make him happy, I bought a Tracfone - that I used once to activate it.. I'm pretty sure that's the only time I used it.. I think that was 2 years ago and I never used it again.. (Also, since 7 to 8 months out of the year I live in a dead zone, there's not much point in having a cell phone anyhow.. I have a land line there..)

So here at DD's they "used" to have a land line - as well as cell phones - but no more (did away with it just before I moved back from the lake).. They now have the cable/internet/phone package.. A week or two ago, I was here alone one evening and the cable went out - which meant no phone.. Dson-in-law was upset when he came home and asked if I would please reactivate my Tracfone - because during the winter, the three of them will be going away for weekends and such and he's not comfortable with me not having a phone if something happens.. Okay - I'll see if I can reactivate it - and just buy enough minutes for emergencies..

Guess what? Found the charger and booklet in a plastic bag in one of my dressers, but can't find the darn phone anywhere!! Has to be here somewhere, but so far I can't locate it..

Once I find it I'll do as he asked, but I'll use it for emergencies only.. I'm just not a "cell phone" type of gal..;)

We have a land line, but it is only for the satellite TV- the ringer is turned off.

DH, DD, and I all have our own cellphones that we carry around everywhere. Mine is the one we list as "home phone" on all forms.

We have both, but since moving here, DH has designated the land land as for work use only, so I just use my cell phone now.

We have both but really only use our cellphones. I'm about ready to get rid of our landline. No sense in having that ol' dinosaur!

We got rid of our landline a few years ago after throwing away money on the bill for several years. We never used it!

Oh I am! I took to cell phones like a fish to water. It's the texting. I hate talking on the phone and texting has been great for me to keep in touch with people I need to "talk" to.

I've worked odd hours for 30 years, had a cell phone for over 20. NOBODY but my wife, kids, mom and in laws has my cell phone number. I turn the answering machine volume to zero and the ringer off on my land line phone when I sleep, and leave the cell phone on in case my family has an emergency and needs to reach me.

I deal with calls (on a land line) from the general public all day long at work, and based on the lousy reception, I don't understand how ANYONE can rely on a cell phone as their only phone.
Doesn't matter who the provider is, the drop outs and distortion make them a nightmare.
If I get another call like: " Hi this is garble garble garble and I want to talk to someone about garble garble gargle, I talked to garble garble garble ]about it last night and they said DIAL TONE" I'll scream.
Don't you cell phone only users get tired of that on your end....having to repeat things or call back to finish a call?

We have both. I would love to get rid of the expensive landline, but DH uses it a lot for work so we have to keep it. :(

we have both and I do not give out my cell number to many people. Due to my volunteer work I do recieve a lot of phone calls at home. I do not want to be bothered when I am not at home. I had one person call myhome while we were on vacation. She was so impatient and called a few more times and then went over my head and called the Church looking for me. This was the 3rd week in July...come on, don't you have the common sense to figure out someone may be on vacation at that time?? Church told her i was probably on vacation
