Do you tip for turndown service separately from regular Mousekeeping?

I grab a little piece of paper off of the telephone pad and write, "For our maid" on it and lay that over the money, on the bed.

A lot of people make up envelopes to make everything more easy while they are on vacation - some even decorate them with stickers, Mickeys, etc. If you enjoy that sort of thing, by all means - go for it! I think they are adorable. :) If not, don't worry about not doing it. The maids are less excited about Mickey and WDW than most of us. It is what is inside the envelope that the maids care about. :)

But you have to leave something. They aren't supposed to just take money that is lying around, for obvious reasons. :)

Yes, we tip separately for turn-down service. Usually $3-4. Like the pp, we just jot a note for the maid using the paper pad in the room.

It may vary depending on resort but when we were at CR last year Turn down service was the following (note we generally had been back in the room b/w regular maid service and turn down) - trash cans emptied, fresh towels if any had been used, comforter turned down and chocolates left on the pillows, drapes/blinds closed, light left on. I believe that one afternoon I had taken a nap and that bed had been remade and turned down that night as well.

So if you plan to be gone from early morning until late night - you just leave one envelope marked "housekeeping" and mark the other one "turndown" and leave both out when you leave that morning?

Also wondered how much just for turn down - I know the rule of thumb is $1 per person in the room per day for housekeeping, but wasn't sure the general rule for turndown service.

Thanks!
