Do you think we will like the Sci Fi Dine In?

My family enjoys sci-fi! The burgers are a decent bet. The refillable flavored sodas are another good thing. DS(13) likes the spinach and artichoke dip, but I didn't. None of us liked the kid's pizza, yuck! The cheese on it was very sharp! My mom had a reuben and enjoyed it. The onion rings are great!

SciFi depends heavily on your expectations. It's perfectly good pub fare, like you might get at a neighborhood sports bar, or something similar. Not great pub fare, but good.

It's the setting that makes the place work. It's a hoot!

We have gone to the Scifi since MGM opened and I often wonder why they can't make a new reel to show? There has to be hours of old 50's sci-fi flicks.!

Like many we have always loved the place for it's cool inside .. sit down and have a bite to eat .. it's no california grill but def a notch above the typical CS in the parks.

I guess the question there is which old 50's sci-fi flicks they have/can get the rights to show all day, every day... especially when the deal with MGM is well and truly over.

My view on the Sci-Fi is that if you've never tried it before, it's a must-do. The atmosphere of this place is really cool, but don't expect it to be a fancy place. It's all about the atmosphere.

If it were me and I was going for the first time I would probably do a lunch (or a late lunch if you want to sub it for dinner) and enjoy a nice drive-in type of meal with Burgers, Fries and followed up with a Chocolate milkshake. Kind of tough to mess up a burger (and honestly in my opinion it's one of the better burgers in WDW) so at least you'll know what you're getting.

Give it a try. :)

I wish they'd replace the film reel loop too! But only because I've seen it so many times. DS10 absolutely loves the place. I agree with the previous poster about the chance to just chill in the AC and watch the movie clips. WDW can be quite overstimulating and SFDI is a bit of a dark, cool break.

I decided to make ADR's for Sci-Fi for our upcoming Sept. trip. It will be me, DH and DS, almost 2. I made ressies for an early dinner at 4:15. Should I change it and go for lunch instead of dinner? Is there a difference?

Thanks!

Ooh thanks for the tip about ordering burgers for dinner. :thumbsup2 I haven't tried theirs and I think I would prefer that over anything else on the menu. Although substituting chicken in the penne dish sounds good too.

This is the one place the all of my kids say "WE MUST GO". All my kids are teenagers, and we have gone 4 times since 2000.

A BURGER, ONION RINGS AND A SHAKE! What a way to start Disney.:cool1:
YUMMY!

YES YES YES:banana: We've been going to Sci fi forever and our DD and DS LOVE it. Burger baskets with shakes are a sure-bet; I love their reuben--it had to be 6 inches thick in June where we were last there:hippie: Unlimited refills on soda and ice tea too. Our trip to WDW wouldn't be complete without a lunch from Sci Fi:thumbsup2 It's one of the first I make each year.

We eat there in May and going back in October. The kids (2 & 4) were so well behaved because they were amazed by the large screen. We all had burgers and milk shakes. We thought they were very good. The food is not fancy but the place is fun and we had excellent service when we went.

I think what is also neat (exp for little kids) is they will never really go to a real drive in .. there is none around here anymore and I think the couple left are too far for a night out.

God I remember being at the drive in in my PJ's and playing on the swings .. having some fries and getting a peek at the grown up movie after the two family ones .. I vividly remember the summer Jaws was out ..

It's a time just about gone sadly.

I remember those nights too! We'd bring our pillows so we could sack out in the back of my Dad's 64 Chevy station wagon. Of course this was in Dallas so it was hot as everything but we had so much fun. There is one drive in movie left where I live and its full of weirdos so we never go. I agree, its the closest most of the kids today will get to the real thing.

Sci-Fi is better for lunch then dinner. The atmosphere is very cool.

I had a cheeseburger for lunch once and it was good. However, on my last trip I went for dnner and the menu was different. I'm not that picky, but the food was not even edible and the waiter was rude. I am still mad I never complained about the horrible service and the nasty food.

We love the Sci-Fi ... the food is not fantastic, BUT it is good The burger and a shake are a GREAT choice You can order this for dinner even though it is not on the menu I love sitting in the cars to eat and watching the movie..... I think it is something not to be missed at Disney :)

I would suggest not wasting a TS on this restaurant. We have eaten there two years in a row and both times the dinner was mediocre at best. We plan on paying out of pocket for Lunch as the menu is different at that time.

We love the 50s prime time diner. Good food, fun atmosphere and well worth a table service credit.

Why is lunch better than dinner at Sci-Fi? I just booked an early dinner for our Sept. trip. If you can still get burgers and shakes at dinner if you ask, what makes the lunch better?

We have never eaten here so I would like to find out if there is something I don't know about. I think I can still get lunch ADR's for that day if I need to switch.

Thanks!

We eat there lunch and dinner, get the same thing every year, bacon cheeseburger, fry, shake since 1993. Best darn burger and shake there is. Don't miss this place if you get the chance.
