Do you think Tiger is sick or just a cad?

Unfortunately, most 10 year old boys are unable to make the distinction between "role model only for golf" vs. "role model for life". To whom much is given, much is expected. Tiger has been given much...talent, perseverance, parents who pushed him to excel, and a lot of luck. The fall from the top is long, especially when it is of one's own doing....

that is where a Real Parent comes in and lets them know starting young that a Golfer is NOT a role model. You have to nip that in the bud when they are young. People who play a sport are NOT role models, they are athletes and nothing more.

I am and always will be a fan of Tiger's.

Don't really care too much what is going on in his personal life. I bet he wins one of the first 3 tournaments he plays in.

I don't feel a need to defend myself to you bicker. You and I clearly come from two completely different perspectives.

If Tiger's children are harmed, they are harmed by their father's behavior which put them into a position of being harmed. You are looking at the effect. I am looking at the cause.

Like I said, two perspectives and the twain shall never meet. You disagree with me and I disagree with you. There's not much more to discuss. I'm not asking you to defend your opinion...you certainly have the right to think that those of us who want to put the blame where it beliongs are morally inferior. I have the right to disgree. And I do.

Regards.

I agree, what is happening to his family is only Tiger's fault with his actions. Whether or not the media was reporting it, this is still happening to his family. His children and wife would still have to deal with their husband/dad cheating and all of the ramifications that causes.

Neither. I don't care about his personal life. He doesn't owe me or my kids a thing :goodvibes

I agree, he doesn't owe anyone anything.

But no, I won't tell my DS to watch Tiger. There are plenty of other golfers that I can point DS to as someone to look up to. At this point what I will tell DS about Tiger is that this is not what you want to become or who you want to be.

I am shocked by this. I was fascinated by Tiger because of his mental toughness. He won tournaments because other golfers were afraid of him (whether they want to admit it or not). And because Tiger was so in control of everything else, I can't believe that he let his personal life get so out of control.

On another front. Have you seen the reports that his wife hit him in the mouth with a cell phone and chipped 4 teeth and that is why is not making any appearances.

That's not the case. Without excusing what Woods did, we all have a choice how we decide to behave in response, and if our behavior harms children, then without taking away from Woods' own responsibility in that regard, we too, in doing things, saying things, engaging in activities that harm children, are also at fault.

Some of what I am reading is this thread is like people saying that if there is a car accident because of a drunk driver, and a young child is thrown from the vehicle onto the road, then no problem if you fail to do your best to avoid running over that child. "After all, the child was thrown onto the road because of the drunk driver, therefore all the fault must be the drunk driver's." That's simply indefensible rationalization for one's own inexcusable behavior.

No, what we are saying is that the child is thrown from the car and then hit then it was an accident COMPOUNDED from the original neglect.

No one here is intentionally attacking the children but to assume the press should leave Tiger alone because he has children is ludicrous. IMO.
Tiger had children when he went around trying to bonk every women under the age of 90.

Children are extremely resilient, the degree to which they are affected by this in my opinion will be due to how the people around them react(the people who love them) NOT by whatever the media chooses to write or not write. His children are extremely young 3yo and 10 months, I highly doubt any thing we or the media say will be of importance 10 years from now. what will be important is whether or not they can trust daddy dearest to treat and respect their mother, generally boys learn how to treat women from how they see dad interact with women. So who's doing the most damage?

Sorry, Tiger knew what was at stake including damage done to his family, he made his decision. I see no reason for the media to treat him any different then any other celebrity

I am at the point where I think Tiger Woods is one of those people who should just go. Get out of the spotlight and be done with it. He made several mistakes, with how many more to come in the future, has small children who someday will be in a position to find out about this whole mess and quite frankly I blame Tiger and the media and the other women. At what point did this guy think these girls were so trustworthy that they wouldn't SELL the information to some rag for the highest dollar? That is what truly boggles my mind. But in the end...not sure that of the ten women coming forward are truly mistresses and who just wants to jump the bandwagon.

We were in WDW this week when they were reporting that someone had been taken from the house and was on life support. Two hours later the story changed. Then the 911 call came out. I am sorry but leave the poor wife, Elin, alone. Go after Tiger, make his life miserable. Whatever. I don't buy the rag mags, I really don't want to see news feeds on where he is or isnt, what excuses there are for his behavior nothing.

As an athlete or famous person whose following consists of young children and teens, part of your job is to be responsible. These kids are watching these athletes. Some famous movie star who older adults know/recognize can get away with so much more because their following is adults. It just is one of those times when I feel like they broke the story, we all know there are several women he slept with, now we know he didn't use protection, pretty soon someone will come forward with a kid that says is his or with a bill from a clinic and it will start all over again. I say just be done with it. Don't feed the vultures. Tiger is a cad..his wife and the everyone else knows about it. Let her decide what the future holds. The rest of us really don't have a stake in whether she stays or goes or gets all his money or anything. Leave her and the kids alone and move one. Find Tiger and follow him around day and night. Because in the end, my personal feeling is that Tiger is in hiding after crushing his family and now is letting them take the brunt of the attention to the point they can't even leave the house. Where is he? He should be the one the media is dogging and he should, in respect to his family, be out there taking the heat.

The whole thing is just incredible.

Failing to try to stop before hitting a child, and/or failing to drive around a child, thrown from a car in a car accident is not an accident itself. You used the word "compounded" and indeed that's what is happening: People are compounding the damage done to the children through their own actions, engaging in tabloid mudslinging.

No one here is intentionally attacking the children but to assume the press should leave Tiger alone because he has children is ludicrous. IMO.
And I'm saying that people who think that should be rethinking their own actions -- thinking about the impact of their own actions before continuing to practice those actions, evaluating whether those actions serve more good than cause harm to two young children. That was the point I thought I made earlier. Reporting the facts of the case is fine; that's the press' role in our society. It does serve a public good. It is the catty, gossipy mudslinging and reckless casting of aspersions about Tiger Woods' fitness as a human and such that is irresponsible.

Tiger had children when he went around trying to bonk every women under the age of 90.
Which doesn't excuse the actions taken by people other than Tiger Woods.

Children are extremely resilient...
Rationalization.

Sorry, Tiger knew what was at stake including damage done to his family
Another rationalization.

Indeed... he should just be a professional golfer and that's all. However, by rights, that's all he should have ever been. The fact that all this is going on is a reflection of the original problem, that the media manipulates all of us by crafting these personalities and presenting them to us as products. Tiger Woods should have always only been a professional golfer. We should have never cared about him more than his ability to hit a little ball around a course.

Bicker, with all due respect that is just not reality. I understand what you are saying however reality is reality.

How many movies, books, gossip has King Henry the VIII inspired even to this day? A TON and he has been dead since 1547.

a lot of men are only as faithful as their options. and he had a LOT OF OPTIONS. There are a LOT of rich men who do this, but he was stupid and got caught like an idiot. Heck for the amount of money that guy has he could cheat on me all he wanted, just give me an open checkbook ! haha j/k of course, especially with kids involved, if you are gonna have a family you should have gotten that out of your system BEFORE getting hitched and having kids. Lord knows he had plenty of time when he was younger...

This is an insult to all men.

I know no man like this and it is totally uncalled for to paint all men with this brush.

I actually didn't/don't even care about him as a golfer. Never been a golf fan so other than the fact he has several endorsements from different companies that throws him out there on commercials..well I probably wouldn't have known him had he walked past me on the street. And to be honest, until they started showing pictures after the fact of the wife and kids I really didn't know what she looked like except that I thought she was a blonde lady from a different country. Their personal life really is of no concern to me.

Tiger put himself out there, did the deeds. Its been reported to death and will continue to be with every new detail. But where is Tiger while the kids and the wife are taking the media hit? That is the part that just really pushes me past this whole thing being a media responsibility. HE SHOULD be moved somewhere else, some big house living alone with the media CAMPED on his doorstep. Everyday coming out at 9am feeding them with his excuses so that his family can have some peace. The media is out of control in certain areas. Who cares what Elin plans to do or is doing today? If Tiger and his statements so far are true than he needs to prove it and take care of his family.

And lets face it..Tiger has enjoyed the money..and the fame. It was all fun and games before the girls started popping up. He sold himself to the media for the money when times were good. Go out there ole boy and sell yourself again.

It must be embarrassing for any women around Tiger that weren't propositioned by him. They must feel really left out.

I agree with everything you say except the bolded part, to a degree. I think their job is to play the game; our job is to raise our children and teach them who to look up to and for what reason.

And I don't disagree with that. But, I also am aware that, unfortunately, the media and television and radio being what it is today the kids are more inclined to see these super sports heros, heck we have several channels DEVOTED to sports. I know my boys watch it endlessly. Because of their skill level they become heros. And that is where the media is wrong IMHO.

I remind my kids all the time. If you place yourself in a situation to enjoy the perks, please be aware that you will be scrutinized. We live in a world where everyone seems to be worried about what everyone else is doing, what they have that we don't, etc. It is no surprise to me in a general way that there are people who are probably sitting around talking about how they knew Tiger wasn't such a great guy and following his downfall with glee. No surprise at all. Once these guys become these sports heros they appear to not get the basic human right of making mistakes. BUT...they also enjoy all the noteriety and the money and glossy magazine covers showing their perfect house and perfect families so they do have a certain responsibility to be careful of their image.
