Do you think this is safe?

I work with a woman who can sleep anywhere, and literally does. She goes to her car every lunch hour and sleeps and comes back. Now that's not what's bothering me. It's the fact that she does this EVERYWHERE. Her family went to Six Flags not too long ago and she told me that she got tired of walking so she went to the car and took a nap. Our department went to the zoo last week and sure enough, half way through the day, off she goes to take a nap. She goes to the car, turns it on to cool it off or to open the window, reclines the front passenger seat and dozes off.

Now with the way people disappear these days, this just doesn't seem to be the thing to do in a public place.

There was a man murdered doing just that about 10 miles from where I am. I sure wouldn't do it.

I don't think it's necessarily that unsafe. If the doors are locked and the windows aren't too far down. What's the odds that a "bad guy" intent on attacking a woman is going to walk by? What would worry me more is that the poor gal is so tired all the time. Perhaps she needs to visit an endocronologist and have some blood work done. That seems to be an abnormal amount of sleep that she's needing?

I used to do that at work when I was pregnant. It was the only place I could get some shuteye. I never really thought about it being unsafe.

I think it's very unwise to spend unnecessary time in your car. It's too easy for a bad guy to walk by and see you vulnerable. Has this woman got untreated narcolepsy???

I don't mind so much that she does it at work. But to do it in public places really creeps me out.

She says she has low blood pressure and that's why she's allways so tired. She doesn't like taking the meds her doctor gives her.

Maybe she has a sleeping disorder? :confused3

Now, this is a cultural thing I guess, but I used to have a Japanese exchange student. When we all went to WDW she and her whole family feel asleep on the bus and didn't give a moments thought to being robbed or worse. That family literally would sleep any time we stopped Anywhere.

I take a nap in my car at least 3 days a week- either at lunchtime out in the parking lot at work or before class in one of the campus parking lots.

I work full time and I take very demanding classes at night. I find that I really need that nap in order to get through my 15hr days. The doors are locked and the windows are open 1/2 way and I'm in public view.

DH often works 12-18hr days and will take a nap in the back of his truck before heading home, which is anywhere from a 1-3 hr commute depending on where he is and what time of day it is.
