Do you think this is okay?

99% Of the time NO! However, I have a very motion sickness prone child. If she had a motion sickness moment the night before that I were 100% sure was NOT illness, then I would take her the next day and have done so. My best example of this is our Disney cruise where the Captain warned crew, barf bags were in the hallways, the ship was definitely rocking, and people were puking (didn't mean to) in public spaces. Had the nurses blessing on that one since club staff even knew why she got sick.

Known illness or no known cause of the vomiting: keep them home 24 hours after the LAST occurrence.

In reading other posts---if you know for a fact it isn't an illness, then that is the only exception.

Thank you for the replies. That's what I thought - 24 hours after last vomiting episode.

No. Our school's rule is 24 hours with no fever or vomiting. My personal rule is that if you couldn't have gone to school, you can't go to some other activity that exposes you to other kids. (So a late-morning fever keeps you out of school the next day, but wouldn't preclude an activity the next evening, if that makes sense.)

ETA: My kid isn't the kind who throws up much - that's usually a sign that she's *really* sick. If she were a puker, I'd be more lenient.

Depends, if I have any inkling that they are sick then no I dont send them, but both of my kids have horrible allergies, that gunk just sits there, they start to cough, they cough so hard sometimes they get sick. If it is a situation like that, then I am 99% sure they are not contagious and off they go.

Very simple question: Do you think it's okay to bring your kid to school or activities if they were throwing up the night before?

It depends on why they were throwing up.

I have one that gets car sick and vomits a lot, and he also vomits from anxiety. If I'm pretty sure that the vomiting was a result of one of those two things, or because I know he ate too much junk food (yeah, I'm Mother of the Year Material), then I would let him go to school or activiites.

If I thought he was actually contagious, then NO.

I think that most Moms kind of know if their kid is actually sick or if it's some kind of fluke, and that Mom judgement can usually be trusted (of course, some parents don't think too hard and send the kid anyway, but you can't regulate stupid).
