Interestingly enough if you had told me five years ago that they were going to add on to the Contemporary with the BLT I probably wouldn't have believed it.
My opinion, which I freely admit is pulled from thin air, is that if Disney thinks they can make more money with a DVC component at the Polynesian, it will definitely happen, otherwise not.
I bet somewhere in a file cabinet are plans for DVC at both Poly and GF...including how to do it. )
I don't think the Poly is really an option for the DVC. There just no where to build a DVC wing and quiet pool. And like other's have posted, the Poly is a cash cow for Disney. So why would they tear down cash rooms to build DVC villas? Once those DVC villas are sold they do not provide regular income for Disney like hotel rooms do.
They can build it in the parking lot, they did the BCVs. Also there is enough room to build a DVC wing similar to VWL where Luau Cove is.
Never underestimate Disney's desire or ability to make more money. If Disney thinks they will come, they will build it. I think DVC has done better at deluxe resorts closer to the parks (not that SSR or OKW are failures) and will stick to that blue print. I would not at all be surprised if the next DVC resort were at the Poly.
