Do you think there will be new iPhone this summer?

Most rumor and tech sites are figuring a release this year for the iPhone 5, and the iPad 3. Makes sense. Apple's cycle seems to be the same as with the 3G. They release the 3GS as an interm to the 4, and probably the 4s as interm to the 5. The timing is right. Glad I held off though, as the 4s just doesn't add anything I need. I'm dying for a 5, with a larger screen, faster proc, and sleeker body. :goodvibes

As a side note, I'm also glad I don't move on the iPad 2 with the 3 in the very near future it seems!

I've got the 4 and I'm tenatively waiting for the 5. I've heard a couple of rumors about the 5........1) that it was the last thing Steve Jobs was intimately involved with and 2) they are going to make the screen bigger. If they make the screen bigger, I probably won't buy it. Seriously, I don't need a bigger screen, that is why I have an iPad! I need a phone that will do all the wonderful things I need, but it still has to be able to fit in my pocket!

Here's hoping that if the do enlarge the screen, it physical body remains the same size. Of course things are always speculation with Apple, but, from what I understand, the screen can be made larger, while the top and bottom areas could shrink.

I agree on size though, the 4 is perfect. Fits in a pants pocket with no effort.

OK, I ammend my post about the screen. IF, they can make the screen bigger without increasing the overall size of the phone, then I'm on board.

I wouldn't mind buying the monthly Int'l data package but I thought AT&T also charged a per Mb fee on top of it.

I should specify that I bought data packages for international data usage. They had a few different data amounts to choose from. A big help was to turn off data roaming when not in use. Otherwise it would have eaten away all my data usage.

Thanks Lori,

I don't have a 3G enabled iPad so getting a sim card the way Mike (and then Kevin/John did in Italy) did isn't going to work for me. My iPhone is not "jail broke" either so my understanding is that I cannot change out sim cards in Italy. I guess I'm wondering, if you don't mind me asking, whether AT&T charged you an additional fee (over and above the international data package you bought) that was based upon data use.

I'm interested to see what the iPhone 5 has to offer. I'm due for an upgrade in July... hopefully it's out by then!

Nope. I didn't go over the data usage. But I do think they specify a cost per minute charge if you do go over. I underestimated the data package, but I was able to buy the package that covered me because I was within the same billing period. I did this all through the Manage Your Account (or something similar) feature on the AT&T website.

My statement looked odd because they had to credit and debit me back the differences, but my bill was eventually pro-rated to the correct amounts. I did pay less per minute than the standard pay as you go rate by doing it this way.
